Guest Post and Giveaway: Heart of Glass by Ari McKay

We’re so pleased to welcome the writing team of Ari McKay to TNA today on the tour for their latest release, Heart of Glass, book three in the Lawyers in Love series from Dreamspinner Press. Hello, everyone! Ari of Ari McKay here, and thanks to The Novel Approach, I get to spend a few minutes talking to you about our latest release, Heart of Glass, from Dreamspinner Press!

Have you ever been interested in someone out of your league? Maybe it was the captain of the football team in high school. Or a coworker. Or maybe even a good friend who you just thought you didn’t stand a chance with. You would have liked nothing more than for them to notice you, single you out for their attentions, have the opportunity to show them who you really were, hoping they’d realize you really were worthy of their time and affection.

What would you have done if it had actually happened?

What would you have done if you then found out they thought you were someone else?

This is the predicament Zach from Heart of Glass finds himself in. As a member of the District Attorney’s office, he first meets Asher in the courtroom, on the opposite side of an important case. Asher’s obvious intelligence and incredible charisma are a powerful attraction, but so is the compassion for his client Zach can see under the surface of Asher’s brilliant defense. It pushes Zach out of the public and professional rut he’s fallen into, and he applies for a position at Asher’s law firm, Caldwell and Monroe. But being at the same large firm doesn’t mean Asher notices Zach, and after a time, Zach feels he won’t ever have a chance.

Enter Erik and Kevin, Zach’s friends, who give him a makeover. At their hands Zach is transformed, leaving behind his sober suits and glasses for clubbing clothes and contact lenses. The three friends plan a night out, but before it even really gets started, duty calls. Zach has to take some important papers to Asher’s apartment, and for the first time, Asher notices him. Giddy with happiness, Zach responds to Asher’s skillful seduction, and the chemistry between them is as explosive as Zach had always thought it could be. But after rocking Zach’s world, Asher turns dismissive, and in the foyer of Asher’s apartment, Zach learns why. Asher had been expecting a male escort, and believed Zach to be his hook up for the night!

Can you imagine how something like that must feel? Here Zach believed himself to have finally caught Asher’s eye. He thought he had a chance to win Asher’s heart, but suddenly learns Asher wasn’t really taking him to bed, just a convenient body Asher had bought and paid for. Devastated, Zach leaves, knowing he will never see Asher again, his hopes and dreams crushed.

What Zach doesn’t know is that Asher did notice him — or at least noticed the man he believed to be an escort. Asher has plenty of issues of his own, chief of which is a fear of commitment. He is worried he’ll turn out like his father, who simply couldn’t be faithful to one person, and so Asher has resigned himself to  assignations rather than relationships. Then a tall, gorgeous, incredibly giving man winds up in his bed, and Asher’s desires for something more than meaningless sex are suddenly aroused. But when he finds out Zach isn’t an escort, and, in fact, is one of his employees, Asher knows he has to make things right.

Now if he can only convince Zach to give him a chance, he wants to prove to them both that he can be faithful to one man for the rest of his life.

About the Authors

Ari McKay is the professional pseudonym for Arionrhod and McKay, who have been writing together for over a decade. Their collaborations encompass a wide variety of romance genres, including contemporary, fantasy, science fiction, gothic, and action/adventure. Their work includes the Blood Bathory series of paranormal novels, the Herc’s Mercs series, as well as two historical Westerns: Heart of Stone and Finding Forgiveness. When not writing, they can often be found scheming over costume designs or binge watching TV shows together.

Arionrhod is a systems engineer by day who is eagerly looking forward to (hopefully) becoming a full time writer in the not-too-distant future. Now that she is an empty-nester, she has turned her attentions to finding the perfect piece of land to build a fortress in preparation for the zombie apocalypse, and baking (and eating) far too many cakes.

McKay is an English teacher who has been writing for one reason or another most of her life. She also enjoys knitting, reading, cooking, and playing video games. She has been known to knit in public.
