Review: Garrick is having a bad day. I mean, a really bad day. After fending off the advances of his therapist – an appointment which he was attending because of the bad breakup with his ex – he spies his dog wandering in the middle of the street. That’s the first clue that his day is going to continue downhill fast… It was supposed to be a joke, a prank played on him by the jealous new boyfriend of his ex. Just a little ad placed on Craigslist saying that his house and all its contents were there for the taking, just show up with a truck and take what you want. People talk about the shells left of cars after they have been stripped? They took everything from his house, right down to the kitchen sink and the pulls on his kitchen cabinet doors. Garrick arrives home in time to catch the last guy standing in his house, who complains the only think he gets is the garden hose because that’s all that’s left. His landlord is having a coronary, the dog is pouting, and Garrick is afraid of leaving home, scared that when he returns there will be no more windows or doors. And they took his guitar, the one of only one-hundred-fifty Dean From Hell Vendetta guitar his father gave him.

Detective Mak Inoue doesn’t know what to think when he is called to the scene of a break-in/robbery/domestic disturbance. But what he discovers is that Garrick didn’t ask for any of this and Mak develops a real need to make it right for Garrick. Find the guys missing stuff, return it, and help the guy heal, and the first order of business is to get the Vendetta back.

This story is a novella, so its short, but A.J. Llewellyn manages to take us on a nice ride through the twists and turns of Garrick retrieving his belongings – his guitar – and finding his HEA. Yeah, there are some leaps here, some moments of unbelievability, but if you want a nice, fun little read, just go with it. If you need some hot men and a light, easy read for an afternoon, this is the book for you.
