Blurb: Dr. Jeff Martin has spent five years as a rural general practitioner on the Isle of Wight, hiding the fact he’s gay. He travels in secret to see his partner, Tris, but when he discovers Tris has been cheating on him, he ends their relationship. Then Jeff meets island native Cameron Gillard. Cameron is down-to-earth, lively, and treats Jeff like he’s the most important person in his life. Jeff blooms under Cameron’s attention, and he decides to come out to his colleagues and friends.
Just when things are going well, Tris reappears out of the blue. Jeff is no longer interested in Tris, but it seems he has two men to convince. Tris, who can’t believe Jeff is serious about wanting to end their relationship, and Cameron, who can’t hide his jealousy of Tris.
Jeff is certain about one thing—the only man he wants in his life is Cameron. Now he just needs to prove it to him.

Review: Dr. Jeff Martin has been driving every weekend for the last few years, from where he lives on the Isle of Wight, to Manchester to see his boyfriend, Tris. Catching Tris cheating on him is the wakeup call Jeff needs to end the relationship and start fresh in his community. He loves his practice, he loves his patients, and now, he has a chance to really put down roots, make friends and maybe even come out to his coworkers at the surgery. Jeff is written as a steadfast, handsome, personable doctor who cares about not just the health of his patients but their general wellbeing also. Sue Brown loves these kinds of characters; her men are often really good guys, and if I were a guy, and gay, sign me up for one of her kind of man every time!
Cameron Gillard sees in Jeff a soul he can take care of, while Jeff takes care of everyone else. Cameron wants to always be the one to wrap Jeff up in his arms and love on him. Cameron has some insecurity about himself that he has to overcome, though, and Jeff has to get over old hurts, but together these men find a way.
I loved Island Doctor. The writing is spot on for an easygoing read packed full of in-your-face romance. There really isn’t a lot of angst or sex in this book; it’s all about the journey, the falling into love, and the happy-ever-after for two incredibly hot men. If you haven’t read the Isle series, you can still read this book as a standalone, but if you know the series, you will recognize several familiar faces and appreciate the pushing along of their individual arcs within this storyline. I will definitely be following this series. I love Sue Brown and her very British men!
