My Love of Valentine’s Day in Romantic Fiction
I’m so excited to be here today, so thank you so much for hosting me. And thanks to everyone for taking the time to read.
I’ve never been that big on Valentine’s Day. When I was a kid and we had to bring in those adorable cards for each member of the class, I was the one who sat down at the table a few nights before and spent time picking the perfect on for each kid. But I never got as many in return. As I grew older, even as young as middle school, I was sort of jaded by the commercialism of it, helped along by the mean kids, and I didn’t want much to do with it.
Until I found romance.
I was stealing my oma’s Harlequin’s when I was twelve years old. (There was a very elaborate set up that consisted of her napping, and my nine year old sister and I being very sneaky. Yes, we were too young to be reading them but that’s another story.) The stories appealed to my romantic side and nurtured it to grow healthy and strong. And while I still don’t have much use for Valentine’s Day in my real life, I thrive on it in my fiction. It’s like romance compounded when the story incorporates the day of love into its pages. I’m always left feel swoony and happy when I read them.
And that’s why I wrote one.
I wasn’t going to. I couldn’t get the story to coalesce in my brain, and so I was ready to abandon it. But my love of Valentine’s Day in romantic fiction was a siren song too strong to resist. And so, in the end, I wrote a story with Valentine’s Day, and two sweet guys, at the center. Sean and Hunter deserved to find love and each other, and it’s all the better that it happened on Valentine’s Day. I loved writing it, I loved watching these guys fall in love, and I hope you’ll enjoy it too.

Blurb: Sean Newvine is looking forward to his weekend at Roades End Inn so he can review his stay there for inclusion on his travel website. What he never expects is for the owner, Hunter Roades, to capture his attention from the very start.
The only problem is Hunter thinks Sean’s been sent by his brother on a blind date so that Hunter doesn’t have to spend Valentine’s Day alone. Once the awkward misunderstanding is resolved, Sean is charmed by Hunter’s formality and hospitality. And when they have a chance to really talk, sparks fly.
A passion-filled night has them both wanting more, but Hunter pulls away knowing Sean doesn’t live in town and the distance might be more than they can overcome. Sean and Hunter must figure out if they can make it work for longer than one night, or if their chance at love will end at Roades End Inn before it can begin.
