Blurb: Cast out from his clan, ice dragon Avery is searching for a new home when he comes across someone who refuses to treat him the way he’s always known.

As a clan whore Avery knows where his place is in the dragon world; at the very bottom. He’s grown used to that and to being expected to be available to anyone in the clan who wants him. But when he’s thrown out of his clan and left to fend for himself he becomes lost in the world. While searching for a new clan to belong to he comes across Donovan, a powerful dragon unlike any he’s ever met.

Donovan doesn’t allow whores in his clan because to him everyone should be equal, but convincing Avery that he’s worth more than what he’s always been told he is turns out to be a frustrating task for both of them. Avery doesn’t want to be a whore anymore, but he has never known anything else, and Donovan refuses to treat him like that. They’ll have to heal the scars of Avery’s past abuse if they hope to ever have a future together.

Review: Avery has only known one thing all his life—that his place was at the feet of all other dragons and his lot in life was to be their whore to use as they saw fit, beat as they desired, and use at their whim. All his life has been for one purpose—to serve others as a sex slave. When he is discarded, Avery flies nearly clear across the country before approaching a small dragon clan to seek permission to hunt on their grounds. Expecting to be used and tossed aside, imagine his shock when Donovan—the clan leader—tells him it is his “choice” and to act as he pleases. Stunned and wary of lies, Avery slowly begins to come to terms with the idea that he may submit to anyone he chooses and that they, in turn, will submit to him. But what if it is all untrue and they use him as he has been so brutally used before? Can he really trust Donovan?

A very quick short story, clocking in at only forty-three pages, Submitting To His Clan by Caitlin Ricci still manages to be packed full of emotion. Poor Avery has been so misused by his former clan. Donovan is determined to help him heal and learn to trust—and for the first time learn to take pleasure for himself. Gently and slowly, Donovan introduces Avery to a life where he can make choices and never again fear others.

This was a tender little snippet that ended all too soon. I wish the author had given Avery a little more time to fully capitulate as he did, and learn to trust. It was just a bit too unbelievable that he could change so immediately after just a few days. However, Donovan and Avery were really sweet and lovely as a couple. I hope future stories in this series have a bit more story line so that the characters can develop more fully.
