Excerpt: THE GUY was gorgeous. Big—at least six foot four inches. And broad. He stood in the doorway, the width of his shoulders taking up nearly all the space and blocking half the light. The sun at his back put his face in shadow, but the face was the last thing Tyler was thinking about. The silhouette was enough to get his blood pumping—the perfect triangle created by those broad shoulders tapering to a narrow waist and set atop sturdy legs encased in dark fabric.

The bloke looked around, no doubt waiting for his eyes to adjust from the outside sunshine to the dimmer interior of the pub. His gaze lit on something and he stepped inside, letting the door swing closed behind him.

He stepped towards the bar and Ty’s throat grew dry as he approached. Ty swallowed hard. “What can I get you?” He was surprised he could get the words past his parched throat. He was the one who needed a drink.

The man chuckled, a deep melodious tone that held real amusement, and raised a brow.

Shit. So tempting to flirt—Get a grip, Ty, this isn’t some cosmopolitan Melbourne bar where the guys are expecting a bit of flirty banter.

“I’ll have a beer. A James Squire. Just a middy.” God, even his voice was sexy.

“Coming right up.” Ty was glad that bending for the cold middy glass from the fridge gave him an excuse to hide his face, otherwise his drooling would have given the game away. The guy’s face was the icing on the cake of that smoking-hot body. Square jaw, green eyes, masses of dark, unruly hair, and a five o’clock shadow that added to the rugged look. The guy wasn’t beautiful, but something about the way he was put together totally turned Ty on.

Ty pulled the half pint of beer as he pulled himself together. He put the glass of ale on the bar mat in front of Tall Dark and Handsome.

“Thanks, mate.” The guy placed a note on the bar before downing most of the beer in one swallow.

Ty quirked a brow. “Another one?”

“Love to, but better not. I’m still on the clock.”

“Yeah? What is it you do?” Ty was amazed that his ability to make conversation had returned.

The guy pointed to the pocket of his navy shirt where a lightning bolt emblem was embroidered, along with the name of his company.

“Sparky?” Ty asked.

“Got it in one.”

“Must have been a hard day if you’ve had to stop in for a quick drink mid-afternoon. I wouldn’t have thought things would be that stressful around town that you’d be driven to drink.” Ty started wiping down the bar—something he’d done only an hour before.

The guy laughed. “Not exactly.” He drained the last of his glass.

“Sure you don’t want another?”

“Positive. It’s just a quick visit. I wanted to stop by and welcome you to town.”

“Huh?” Shit, that sounds rude. “Well… that’s nice,” Ty said, when he really wanted to ask why his dream man would specifically go out of his way to do that. Surely country hospitality wasn’t that extreme? “Thanks, I guess.”

The laugh boomed again, making Ty smile, although he wasn’t sure exactly what was funny. The man reached a hand across the bar and Ty’s hand was engulfed in a calloused handshake, the grip sending sparks of electricity up his arm.

“It’s great to see you, Ty.”

Ty’s gaze flew to those big green eyes that were looking at him with so much amusement.

“You have no idea who I am, do you?” The guy chuckled.

He looked a little familiar, maybe? Ty shook his head slowly. No, but I really want to know you.

“Mac McGrath.”

“Mac McGrath?” Ty was puzzled for a moment, and then his eyes grew wide. “Little Robert McGrath?” Jeez, that’s a blast from the past. He looked the man up and down, at least the part he could see over the bar. “Not so little anymore, I guess.”

Mac threw his head back in laughter. “Yeah, I don’t think anyone will be calling me Little Robbie anymore.”

“At least not to your face,” Ty said under his breath. He looked at Mac and shook his head. “Holy shit. I can’t believe it. Lachy’s kid brother.”

“Well, believe it. Here I am, in the flesh.”

Oh, and what wonderful flesh it is…. Even Mac’s hand felt good, his grip warm and firm—Oh shit, Ty was still holding the hand like an idiot. He let go as if his arm was on fire, reached for the cleaning cloth, and began polishing needless circles again.
