Blurb: Fisher Moreland has been cast out of his family because they can no longer deal with his issues. Fisher is bipolar and living day to day, trying to manage his condition, but he hasn’t always had much control over his life and has self-medicated with whatever he could find.

JD Burnside has been cut off from his family because of a scandal back home. He moved to Carlisle but brought his Southern charm and warmth along with him. When he sees Fisher on a park bench on a winter’s night, he invites Fisher to join him and his friends for a late-night meal.

At first Fisher doesn’t know what to make of JD, but he slowly comes out of his shell. And when Fisher’s job is threatened because of a fire, JD’s support and care is more than Fisher ever thought he could expect. But when people from Fisher’s past turn up in town at the center of a resurgent drug epidemic, Fisher knows they could very well sabotage his budding relationship with JD.

Review: It doesn’t get easier for the officers of Carlisle. Just when they think the drug problem is under control, it starts to raise its ugly head again.

JD Burnside works hard as a police officer. He always seems to be chasing the criminals on foot, but no matter how much the job takes out of him, JD feels this is where he belongs—he’s found a place where he is accepted and has loyal friends. That’s much more than what his overbearing and manipulative mother ever gave him.

Fisher Moreland is a lonely soul. He blames himself for the accident that causes him to become plagued by bipolar disorder. His family isn’t a part of his life since it’s much easier to sweep his issues under the rug, and they don’t want to deal with either his disorder or the panic attacks. His personal issues also caused him to get involved with drugs at a low point of his life, but Fisher is a good guy. He has a job that he likes and has learned to accept his issues.

After seeing Fisher sitting on a bench in the cold, JD tries to get him to go home. Because JD has the need to help people, he invites Fisher to a late night meal with several of his fellow officers and friends. Both JD and Fisher have been overlooked by their families because of different tragedies in their lives. The road gets bumpy for both of them, but they both give support to each other that bonds them closer together.

I think Fire and Snow is my favorite book so far in the Carlisle Cop series. Both JD and Fisher were solid characters and complemented each other. I really like that Andrew Grey always brings camaraderie between friends, and the new person that enters the fold is always welcomed with open arms. I also have to give a special mention to Red and Terry from Fire and Water. They are such a fun couple, Red a little shy and Terry doing the teasing. This storyline is easy to follow and there’s action with some dangerous moments too. And, there’s always an important message behind the story.
