Blurb: Firefighter Morgan has worked hard to build a home for himself after a nomadic childhood. When Morgan is called to a fire, he finds the family out front, but their tenant still inside. He rescues Richard Smalley, who turns out to be an old friend he hasn’t seen in years and the one person he regretted leaving behind.

Richard has had a hard life. He served in the military, where he lost the use of his legs, and has been struggling to make his way since coming home. Now that he no longer has a place to live, Morgan takes him in, but when someone attempts to set fire to Morgan’s house, they both become suspicious and wonder what’s going on.

Years ago Morgan was gutted when he moved away, leaving Richard behind, so he’s happy to pick things up where they left off. But now that Richard seems to be the target of an arsonist, he may not be the safest person to be around.

Review: In Rekindled Flame Andrew Grey brings us a story about getting a second chance—not only at living but loving as well. There is a lot of reminiscing of the two MCs’ childhoods, of family issues and how they came to make the choices to get where they are now.

Richard “Richie” Smalley served time in the military. He carries so much guilt for the tragedy that took place while serving—he lost the use of his legs and his PTSD is wearing on him mentally and physically. He also feels as if he’s only half a man. Then a fire adds to his issues, and Richie loses what little he has left. He’s really a troubled soul and has a hard time admitting what happened to him and his troop was not his fault.

Morgan Ayers, firefighter, is quick to respond to any situation, no matter how dangerous it is. When Morgan saves a wheelchair bound man from a dangerous fire, he is surprised to find out it’s someone from his past. In fact, he’s a childhood friend who was there for him during difficult times, until his family situation had him moving to another town.

Morgan is a hopeful romantic. He’s held on to his childhood memories of him and Richie and believes they can have a future together. When Richie is released from the hospital, Morgan can’t let him go and offers him a place to live. Richie starts to feel like he’s a burden to Morgan and feels he should pay Morgan back.

Richie also has to make some very difficult decisions. There’s an arsonist after him and his former military troop. He has to decide what he can reveal to Morgan and Angus, in order for them to figure out the connection.

I loved that Mr. Grey brought Angus MacTavish and Kevin Foster (Round and Round:  Bronco Boys 4) into the storyline; they played quite a big roll. While Kevin’s best friends have gone on vacation, he connects with Richie when Morgan and Angus are called out to a fire. He and Richie share their fear of losing someone you really care about. I think Kevin really helped Richie realize how much he cares about Morgan. And we get to meet Mitzy, Kevin’s new companion.

Rekindled Flame is another well written story from Andrew Grey. There’s danger and suspense and, as always, there’s that great feeling of camaraderie, support and a sweet HEA.
