Love stories give hope. Sometimes they provide a welcome diversion at the end of a dreary day. Or a much needed escape when life feels heavy or unbearably sad. In the aftermath of the horrific massacre at Pulse in Orlando, messages of hope and love are a vital part of healing. They may not cure sorrow, but a well-written romance can serve as a gentle reminder to not give up in the face of adversity.

My latest release, A Kind of Romance, isn’t a battle cry for equality nor does it aspire to teach divisive politicians to value of human interests over political rhetoric in an election year. It’s a love story. Plain and simple. A Kind of Romance is about finding the one person who ultimately makes you a better you. It’s a story about love, friendship and hope. It touches on family, pride and forgiveness through a personal journey to acceptance. Yet in the end, it’s simply about love.

Zeke is a ruthless Wall Street businessman who believes revenge is a dish best served cold. He has a cheating ex-boyfriend, a stressful job and a complicated relationship with his father. The last thing he wants is a date with a fabulous fashionista. Until he gets to know Benny. Suddenly Zeke doesn’t know what he needs anymore. Benny is the last guy he’d ever dream he’d fall for, but as their unlikely friendship blossoms into something more, he realizes he’s actually the only one for him.

The most complicated things can usually be broken into a simpler form. Anger, righteousness and thoughts of vengeance may be normal human emotion in times of pain, but as Zeke learns in A Kind of Romance, sometimes it takes a braver man to forgive than to fight. And a stronger man to give in to love…no matter how unlikely. After all, love is love.

As any romance lover knows, love always wins.

Lane Hayes is grateful to finally be doing what she loves best. Writing full time! It’s no secret Lane loves a good romance novel. An avid reader from an early age, she has always been drawn to a well-told love story with beautifully written characters. These days she prefers the leading roles both be men! Lane discovered the M/M genre a few years ago and was instantly hooked. Her first novel was a finalist in the 2013 Rainbow Awards and her third received an Honorable Mention in the 2014 Rainbow Awards. She loves travel, chocolate, and wine (in no particular order).
