Blurb: From animosity to searing passion in a lunar cycle… but can their bond survive?

Wolf shifter Nathan Kohl’s pack is his whole life. Arrogant and handsome, he avoids commitment to anything or anyone outside of his pack. He works hard, plays hard, and pursues humans as lovers because there’s little to no chance of him forming a permanent bond. However, when Jared Taylor comes into Nathan’s life, every rule is broken.

After a bad experience, Jared vowed to never get involved with another shifter, no matter how much they got under his skin. Despite being physically attracted to Nathan, who’s all kinds of hot, Jared only sees an arrogant, domineering bastard.

A disastrous case of mistaken identity throws Nathan and Jared together until the next full moon. Forced to spend the next twenty-eight days in close proximity, they can no longer ignore the powerful attraction between them. Passion ignites, and their relationship takes a turn neither of them wanted.

But when the full moon comes, everything might change again.

Review: Annabelle Jacobs delves into the supernatural once again, and delivers an intense and suspenseful romance wrapped in a contemporary alt reality world where shifters coexist with humans, and there are strict laws in place governing how and when the act of a wolf/human bite can take place.

Thus, the title.

Bitten by Mistake gives you some indication of the sort of friction that exists between Nathan and Jared when they meet in a bar one night and then afterwards, a series of unfortunate events leads to Jared being stuck with Nathan 24/7—much against Jared’s will. The sexual tension runs deep between these two, almost as deep as Jared’s utter loathing of all things shifter related. Being a fan of enemies-to-lovers stories, I was invested in Jacobs’ capitalizing on that hatred—not only to up the angst factor but also the lust factor between them. Jared’s anger and hatred, and Nathan’s cheeky attitude mixed with his sincere regret—not to mention, fear—over what happened was a great starting point for everything to eventually boil over.

The world-building in this novel gives a nice spin to the shifters-among-us trope as well, while still staying true to some other themes. I liked the politics of the shifter society in addition to the social regulations and restrictions in place, which gave a dangerous edge to what evolved between Nathan and Jared. Their connection was such a fantastic mix of denial and attraction, and then, of course, there was the deadly threat that existed in an intersecting plotline as a result of not only Nathan’s mistake but the trouble brewing within the packs themselves.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed this is book one in a new series—there’s definitely another relationship that could be simmering and just waiting for its own book. With its swoon-worthy love story—a great blend of friction and seduction, by the way—and a problematic connection that tugs at the heartstrings, Bitten by Mistake is yet another reason why Annabelle Jacobs is firmly seated on my auto-read-author list.
