Blogiversary Celebration and Giveaway: Welcome to Author Grace R. Duncan!

We’re so pleased to welcome author Grace R. Duncan today to help us kick off another week of Blogiversary Celebrations. Thanks to Grace for her guest post as well as the giveaway, which you can find out more details on below.

Welcome, Grace!

When I sat down to write Overcoming Fear for the Love Wins anthology to benefit the LGBT Orlando charities, the election hadn’t happened yet and we were still watching the polls tell us Hillary Clinton was going to win. There was a lot of fear of “what if” but then most of that was tempered by “it’s not going to happen.”

Then it did.

Amid reports of Russian interference and some truly horrifying cabinet picks, state-level governments are finding major unethical, but legal, ways of shifting the power long-term. This is the kind of thing we read about in books like 1984 and The Handmaid’s Tale. This is the stuff of nightmares for women, people of color, and our LGBT brethren.

So, though I’ve been writing in the Pandemus world for a couple of years, I hadn’t thought about my choice for Love Wins being so pertinent. While the world in Pandemus becomes dystopian through a pandemic, the end result is still hauntingly close to home.

I think, though, that is why happy endings are even more important. Many of us are terrified of what these changes could (and probably will) herald. So, being able to escape, even to a world that looks a lot like our fears, isn’t a bad thing, especially when that story guarantees things will turn out just fine.

Congrats to The Novel Approach on their anniversary! I’m thrilled Lisa has given me a chance to participate. Remember, I’m offering up an ebook and an audiobook as prizes for the anniversary.

About Overcoming Fear

In the year since a global pandemic ravaged their world, Duncan has done everything he can to ease Mark’s fears of losing him. When a minister and his wife seek out Mark for help, Duncan sees an opportunity to show Mark another level of commitment—if Mark will dare to take it.

About the Author

Grace Duncan grew up with a wild imagination. She told stories from an early age – many of which got her into trouble. Eventually, she learned to channel that imagination into less troublesome areas, including fanfiction, which is what has led her to writing male/male erotica.

A gypsy in her own right, Grace has lived all over the United States. She has currently set up camp in East Texas with her husband and children – both the human and furry kind.

As one of those rare creatures who loves research, Grace can get lost for hours on the internet, reading up on any number of strange and different topics. She can also be found writing fanfiction, reading fantasy, crime, suspense, romance and other erotica or even dabbling in art.

  2. Thank you for your words, Grace. I’m so glad you and the other authors, along with DSP, came together to put out Love Wins. When things get bad, we have to be there for each other, help in any way we can. And when we’re going through the bad times, I’m so grateful we have authors writing wonderful stories to fall into when we need to get away and find a place where good things happen in the end.
