Blogiversary Celebration and Giveaway: Welcome to Author Cari Z.!

Please join us in welcoming author Cari Z. today for our 5th Blogiversary Celebration. Cari’s here to chat about an upcoming release with her co-author, L.A. Witt, and she’s also offering a great giveaway, so check that out below.

Welcome, Cari!

So, 2016 was an odd year for me, productivity-wise. The first half was…well…more waiting than doing. What I was waiting for varied wildly, depending on the day. At different times I was waiting for a book of mine to come out, or waiting to feel like I had the time to write something new, or waiting for inspiration to strike. I had plenty of excuses not to do something, and I used them because I was feeling aimless.

Then RT happened. I was sponsored to go to the conference by L.A. Witt, and in and among all the professional contacts and connections I made, she and I decided it might be fun to coauthor a book. I jumped on the chance—I’d coauthored a few times before and enjoyed it, and I love Lori’s writing. So I said yes to some nebulous future book, then settled in to wait for vacations to pass and time to come back and—yeah, basically I was being a happy procrastinator. However, once we finally got started writing, well. Let’s just say the second half of 2016 was the polar opposite of the first.

Lori and I ended up deciding that one book wasn’t enough—why not make it a series? Two of them are done, and the third one we’re writing as I speak. I also finished up two big solo projects in the latter half of the year, but the story I’m most excited about by far is Risky Behavior, the start to the Bad Behavior series, that Lori and I are putting out through Riptide Publishing. Book One will be released in May, and omigosh, people! It’s so much fun! If you like your m/m romance with a heaping helping of snark, angst, suspense, humor and a little (well actually, not a little, this is us) violence, then you’re going to enjoy this book.

As for 2017, I’ve set an ambitious schedule for myself. Now that I’ve got concrete evidence that I can, in fact, write consistently and well (I doubled my NaNoWriMo goal for November, which—booyah!) I figure I need to do a better job of treating writing like the full-time profession I want it to be. So apart from our damaged detectives, you can look forward to soothsayers, werewolves, space marines, dragons and even a few more contemporary gentlemen who just want to be loved. Wish me luck, and happy holidays to everyone awesome enough to read The Novel Approach.

Thanks Lisa, and Happy Blogiversary!

About Risky Behavior

It’s day one of Darren Corliss’s career as a detective, and not only has he been assigned a notoriously difficult partner, but the guy might also be a pill-popping dirty cop. Internal Affairs needs proof, and Darren gets to be their eyes and ears whether he wants to or not.

Detective Andreas Ruffner doesn’t play by the rules, and he doesn’t play well with others. With bodies piling up and a list of suspects who are way above his pay grade, the last thing he needs is a wet-behind-the-ears kid for a partner. Or babysitter. Not even if that partner is easy on the eyes.

As Darren gains Andreas’s hard-won trust, they both realize there’s more than just mutual suspicion simmering beneath the surface. But their investigation is heating up as quickly as their relationship, and Darren has no choice but to go along with Andreas’s unorthodox—and borderline unethical—methods. As IA puts the squeeze on Darren to give up the man he’s falling for, he has to wonder—is Andreas the only cop left in this town who isn’t dirty?

About the Author

Cari Z was a bookworm as a child and remains one to this day. In an effort to combat her antisocial reading behavior, she did all sorts of crazy things, from competitive gymnastics to alligator wresting (who even knew that was legal!) to finally joining the Peace Corps, which promptly sent her and her husband to the wilds of West Africa, stuck them in a hut, and said, “See ya!” She also started writing, because some things she just thought she could do better. She’s still climbing that ladder, but can’t stop herself from writing, or from sharing what she creates.

Cari enjoys a wide range of literary genres, from the classics (get ‘im, Ahab) to science fiction and fantasy of all types, to historical fiction and reference materials (no, seriously, there are so many great encyclopedias out there). She writes in a wide range of genres as well, but somehow 90% of what she produces ends up falling into the broad and exciting category of m/m erotica. There’s a sprinkling of f/m and f/f and even m/f/m in her repertoire, but her true love is man love. And there’s a lot of love to go around.

Cari has published short stories, novellas, and novels with numerous print and e-presses, and she also offers up a tremendous amount of free content on Literotica.com, under the name Carizabeth.

About Changing Worlds

Dreamspinner Press
Their love will either inspire change in the world or tear it apart.

Former starship captain Jason Kim and his lover, Ferran, are starting a life together on Ferran’s native planet. The Perel matriarchs reluctantly allowed their marriage in the hopes of securing better diplomatic relations with humanity, even though the decision ignites anger from traditionalists. Ferran’s family accepts Jason and the love the two men have found, but other influential families are less accommodating and much less willing to welcome an outsider to their isolated, subterranean world. Some of their enemies are willing to go as far as eliminating Jason permanently. Tensions are quickly building toward a breaking point that might push Perelan into a bloody civil war.

If Jason and Ferran have any hope of surviving the coming conflict, they’ll have to rely on their devotion to each other more than ever before. But that won’t be easy when a figure from Jason’s past reappears to make them question everything.

About Friendly Fire

Riptide Publishing
Elliot McKenzie is the king of reinvention. Five years after losing his job and his lover and almost going to prison, his self-help program, Charmed Life, is more successful than he’d ever dreamed. He thinks he’s put his sordid past firmly behind him, until he starts receiving cryptic threats . . . and realizes it might not be as over as he’d hoped.

Security expert Lennox West has been lost since a deadly skirmish in Afghanistan led to his forced retirement from the Army. His PTSD makes helping his ex raise their daughter a challenge. When his ex’s sister asks him to set her boss up with a security system, Lennox isn’t expecting anyone like Elliot McKenzie—a man who captures his attention and makes him feel relaxed for the first time since leaving the service.

But Elliot is dangerously stubborn. Even as the threats against him escalate, he refuses to involve the police, and Lennox fears that stubbornness could kill him. A battle of wills ensues that brings them closer to each other than either man expected. But if the threats turn real, they might not live long enough to get their future together.
