Blurb: Things are going well for androgynous model Ollie Petroskovic, ex-Marine Kade Alme, and their business, Haven Investigations, until rock star Jacob Elias shows up in need of their services… and trouble follows.

Jacob is a playboy with a serious penchant for kink, slaves, and sex toys. He’s also Ollie’s ex—and all that implies. With the media exploiting his personal life, a stalker sending blood-soaked “gifts,” a bumbling security team, and a family he can’t trust as far as he could throw them, Jacob is in desperate need of a bodyguard for his latest tour, and Kade can’t refuse.

While Kade deals with new doubts about his partnership with Ollie and struggles with reminders of his war injuries, Jacob’s stalker escalates from blackmail and threats to murder. As Kade and Ollie work to keep Jacob safe and find the culprit behind the attack, a web of family secrets, lies, and abuse slowly emerges, leading up to a final confrontation that they might not walk away from—and that will have lasting repercussions for Kade and his relationship with Ollie.

Dividers

Review: Ollie Petroskovic and Kade Alme’s relationship has developed into something intense and somewhat unusual. They both need each other, in their own way. Ollie still deals with recovering from anorexia—sometimes he’s confident and sometimes not—so you never know how he’s going to react to situations. He also still carries grief from his brother Nathan’s supposed suicide. One thing that really stands out about Ollie is that he’s comfortable with who he is, even though he doesn’t fit into a specific gender. He still can flow from his modeling gigs to being a PI with no problem.

Kade is a longtime friend of Nathan and Ollie. He served with Nathan in the military, and always had a special relationship with him. Nathan kept in touch, through letters and gifts, and Kade always had a home to go to because of Nathan. Most of all, Kade never lost interest in Ollie. Once he and Ollie got together, there was no stopping Kade; he is Ollie’s support and protector.

Jacob Elias, Ollie’s ex, comes back into the picture in Model Bodyguard. Kade doesn’t feel comfortable at all about taking Jacob’s case. Kade always feels that little bit of doubt that he might lose Ollie to Jacob. But Ollie and Kade wind up involved anyway, and find it even more bizarre when they meet Jacob’s family. Jacob is an enabler. He’s taken care of his family members to the point that they’re almost self-destructive. Jacob has made a mess of things, and one stupid move puts Ollie and Kade in a horrific situation—Kade finds himself in a nightmare he may never escape.

Lissa Kasey created more than a cliffhanger in Model Bodyguard. This book is gripping, action packed, and is a definite heartbreaker. It’s filled with some strange characters and red herrings—anyone could be guilty. I liked the way Kade tells much of the story; he holds nothing back, and he wears his heart on his sleeve. Ollie is one of the most unique characters that I’ve run across. He and Kade are made for each other. I was on the edge of my seat while reading this one. I didn’t trust Jacob or his somewhat deranged family. When I knew that Ollie was heading into an insane situation, I found myself yelling at him right along with Kade. The next installment in the series is scheduled for release in mid-2017—this is one I’ll be watching for.
