Let Me Tell You About My Publisher
Dreamspinner Press really stepped in a few months ago, when I asked to re-edit Timber Manor. See, when the book first come out, I was so overwhelmed with the process, and so high on the idea that I was now a published author, I really didn’t pay much attention to the actual process. Later on, as my second book was published, and then my third, I had grown up and so had my writing. Graciously, the publishing company who took a risk on me, publishing my book in the first place, put it back through the process after I’d emailed them and explained my position. I told them that I sat down one day and reread what I’d written several years ago, and didn’t like it. I knew I could do better. I knew that I could tighten the story up and clarify other things. Essentially, I wanted to give the readers who would be introduced to me by my first book, The Haunting of Timber Manor, my very best.
They deserved it.
I deserved it.
And more importantly, the publisher who put it out and put their name on it, deserved it.
I love my publishing company. With all that’s going on with ARe, with all that’s happening with publishing houses closing and new ones opening, there seems to be a lot of fluctuation in the market right now, and a lot of published authors have been affected negatively by it all. It’s difficult for an author to put a book out there. It’s so hard, and I know that people sort of roll their eyes at that, but it’s true. With publishers ripping their authors off, with publishing houses closing their doors, with piracy, with Amazon eating profits, with so much out in the literary world happening, non-traditional published authors, or those who are publishing through small presses, are really taking it from all directions. There is so much anxiety, so much tension in the air over every little thing, that people are just on edge.
But it’s good to have a home like Dreamspinner Press who really, I believe, cares for not only the product they put out but the people who are involved with them. I came into this industry not knowing anything—some would argue I haven’t learned much even now. Ha-Ha. I tend to speak my mind, sometimes I step on it from time to time, sometimes I let my big mouth get in the way of my logic. But there is one thing that I will always do, and that is be loyal to the hard working and dedicated people at Dreamspinner Press. They make me want to be a better writer. And for that, they own my heart.
So, if you find yourself out there wandering around in the grey fog of ‘I am not sure what in the fuck I should do now, come home to Dreamspinner Press. There is strength in numbers. Just like any home, I am sure they will leave a light on for you.

About the Author
F.E. Feeley Jr was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and lived there for twenty years before joining the military. He is a veteran of the US Armed Services; having done a tour in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2002-2003, he turned college student, pursuing a degree in political science. He now lives in Southeast Texas where he is married to the love of his life, John, and where they live with their five year old German Shepherd, Kaiser.
As a young man, reading took center stage in his life, especially those novels about ghosts, witches, goblins, and all the other things that went bump in the night. His favorite authors include such writers as Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Anne Rice, whose work allowed him to travel to far off places and meet fascinating and scary characters. As a gay man, he wishes to be able to write good fictional literature for those who love the genre and to write characters that readers can relate to.
