Blurb: Tyler McCall has made mistakes. He was a teacher—before he fell for a student in his school. That misstep cost him his job and everything he’d worked for. He moved to the Black Hills of Wyoming to start his life over, and he’s happy working at the Big Rock Inn near Devils Tower.

Linden Bourne, a no-nonsense FBI agent Tyler had met before, returns to Wyoming hot on the trail of a killer. The previously unexplored attraction between them grows—which is good considering they’ll be spending a lot of time together when a blizzard strands them at the inn. Cut off from the outside world, with no power, they’ll need to rely on their wits and each other to survive.

Especially when it becomes clear they’re not alone—and the danger they face comes from more than the elements.

Review: Tyler McCall was a teacher who lost everything when he became involved with a student. After serving six months in prison, he’s finally released and has no other choice but to stay with his sister, Briley, while he struggles to get his life back on track. When things don’t work out for him, he chooses to leave the city life and heads to the Black Hills of Wyoming.

The Big Rock Inn is up for renovation, and Tyler is the only one around. Linden Bourne, FBI agent, has the murder case of a National Guard reservist to solve, which leads him to the Inn. Tyler isn’t a stranger to Linden; they’d met briefly before, in Wyoming, on another case. Linden was supposed to call Tyler, but that never happened. Now, as both Tyler and Linden become more involved in the investigation, strange things start to happen that put both their lives in danger.

Bait is the fifth book in the Circle series. This story is a fast read, as are the other books in the series—descriptive, action packed, and well written with nicely developed characters. For a short story, I was really amazed by how much Elizabeth Noble packed into this murder mystery set in a deserted ski resort, with a snow storm and a killer on the loose. And, she also gives a surprise ending. Bait was a page turner for me, and I hope it isn’t the last book in this series!

  1. I guess I should reply to your comment about the series continuing. I am planning more mystery/suspense books in the same style as the Circles mysteries, however they’ll be full length novels so won’t technically be part of the series.
