Blurb: Making a name for myself as a Villain in Panopolis is hard work. Six months ago, my boyfriend broke me out of jail. Now he’s spending most of his time defending our turf against other Villains he accidentally freed along with me. And my new psychic powers are not only impossible to control, but they’re also giving me migraines.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. My skills are improving every day, and Raul – aka the Mad Bombardier – and I have never been happier. That is, until my first solo job is interrupted by a mysterious woman who tells me that Raul has been kidnapped by a ruthless new Villain. Review: I don’t usually enjoy second books in series more than the first, but that’s definitely the case here. Book one, Where There’s Smoke, was good, but this one is great. The characters are so much more fleshed out here.

In the first book, we met Edward Dingus and the man he’d fall for, the Mad Bombardier, who happens to be a supervillain. At the end of that story, Edward had developed powers and was beginning his career as a bad guy. The fact that the series was going to focus on the villains instead of the heroes fascinated me, and I was intrigued with how the author would make it work. Good news! She totally made it work. But things aren’t so black and white in Panopolis. Turns out there’s plenty of shades of gray—the good guys aren’t so good, and the bad guys aren’t totally evil.

In this book Edward is looking to develop his reputation as a bad guy and sets out to rob a bank. Things don’t go exactly as planned, and Edward ends up having to work with Maggot, one of the crime lords of Panopolis. Nick Russo’s voice added to the drama throughout the entire story. He did amazing with Edward and all the other characters.

I can’t go into too much detail without spoiling things, but it was awesome seeing Edward find his confidence and doing not only what he needed to do to save the man he loves but also do what is right. The changes he goes through not only affect his personal life but all of Panopolis. Looking forward to book three.
