Review: SIGH. Finally. FINALLY. All the bows are tied on this wonderful series; what a ride. This is the second volume compiling the Green’s Hill Werewolves short stories, and the last of the outstanding republications of the Little Goddess Series. It fills in the little holes in the story arc of the main series that the republication schedule left out, so if you had questions about the werewolves’ timeline, this book will answer them!

I really love all the characters in the Little Goddess series, but Teague is one of my most favorite. His determination and bravery are wonderful, and it’s heartbreaking to watch him struggle to find his self-worth after a lifetime of abuse. Katy is also wonderful. I wanted to see more of her tender heart, common sense, and brutal honesty—especially with Jack. I wanted to strangle Jack 98% of the time, and I was so thrilled to watch Katy give him the what-for on the regular. And speaking of Jack, I’m not sure how I feel about him. Teague loves Jack, so I was rooting for him, but he also kind of drove me up the wall. He was better in volume two, but never quite lost all of his ability to bother the heck out of me with his narrow, almost selfish focus.

We also get more time in the Hill with all of Green’s people, and watch the final showdown prep from some different perspectives. That’s a really fun perk of these multi-POV story arcs. Now that I’ve read all of the series, I do wish there were more time spent with all the characters in less high-stakes situations. We’ve spent the whole series cannoning from one life or death situation to another. It would be really satisfying to see everybody happy, healthy and living life. These poor folks have certainly earned it after all the trauma.

If you’ve been reading this series, make sure you pick this up to complete the arc. If you haven’t started the series yet, you should. It’s some really wonderful urban fantasy with varied POVs and robust characters, but it manages to be a bit different than the standard fare. It has atypical pairings and a very narrow focus on keeping the Green “family” well and whole. There’s plenty of action, drama, and angst to satisfy all your cravings, but there’s no battling to save the WORLD, just the world of Green’s Hill. Bonus: it’s a multi-volume series that is now completely available to allow for optimal binging.
