Review: After having listened to book one in Rhys Ford’s Kai Gracen series, I was hooked and excited for Mad Lizard Mambo to come out. Especially after finding out that Greg Tremblay would continue to narrate the series. Then I listened to the audiobook and loved every second of it!

When last we left Kai at the end of Black Dog Blues, Ryder, High Lord of the Southern Rise Court, just found a way to keep our favorite Stalker on a pretty tight leash. At the beginning of Mad Lizard Mambo (which takes place a few short weeks later), Ryder finds a way to pull Kai’s leash in even tighter, and bring him on another “exciting” adventure. That, of course, does not necessarily go entirely as planned. Because, when would anything in Kai’s life be easy, am I right?

Well, Ryder heard tell of a powerfully magical ancient elfish court that may hold the key to helping increase the birth rate for his (and Kai’s) people, and decided that it was worth the risk to venture into the dangerous territory of the Nevada desert in search of said court. Set to accompany Ryder and Kai is the professor who received photographic evidence of this ancient court, but she was mysteriously murdered shortly before they could embark on their journey. Now, with former stalker “Crickets” Malone, a student of the newly deceased professor, they set out in search of the ancient court. As this is a Rhys Ford book, things (and some people) aren’t entirely as they seem, and our intrepid trio are in for more than they bargained.

Filled with adventure, intrigue, twists, and turns, Mad Lizard Mambo is a non-stop thrill ride thru a post-apocalyptic world where Underhill and the Human world crashed violently together, forever changing life as we all know it. Adding to this fantastical book is Greg Tremblay’s extraordinary narration. He breathed new life into an already outstanding book, and made it even better. You should definitely add Mad Lizard Mambo to your audiobook collection. And, if you have not yet jumped on the audio bandwagon, why not start by getting this book as soon as possible?
