Blurb: Being pregnant is not all it’s cracked up to be, especially when you’re male and a shifter. Since Corey’s pregnancy is now visible, he’s been stuck at home working on code and waiting for company to drop by. Problem is, though, the human government wants to know where Corey is.

As Christmas and Corey’s due date draw ever nearer, Ben devises a plan that will not only get Corey out of the house, but allows the wolves of Atherton Pack to give the community some Christmas cheer.

Review: After the intense journey of the previous book in this series, Kiernan, when werewolves were revealed to the world—or at least Australia—I was looking forward to seeing what was next for the Atherton pack. This is not that book. Instead, we are brought a quick moment in time as Corey discovers he’s pregnant, an ability that is being carefully kept from any government agencies, and forces him into hiding.

This sweet slice of life in the Atherton Pack didn’t really add anything to the world of Atherton. There wasn’t much character development or relationship building between Corey and Ethan, nor was the tension with the government increased or decreased. It did highlight how they were under more scrutiny, as Corey’s absence from the public eye was questioned, but other than saying how much harder life and their pregnancies had become, there didn’t seem to be much actual evidence of it.

I enjoyed the solution of having Corey pretend to be Santa for the local kids, both to show they weren’t hiding anything and to help relations between humans and werewolves. The kids the author showed were sweet and helped reaffirm to Corey how much he wanted a family. I would have loved to see a bit more of the interactions and how the Atherton community has reacted to their reveal; though, if they are allowing their kids to get near not only known werewolves but one who is shifted, it mustn’t be as bad as the government would like it to be.

The characters were consistent with previous novels, and I enjoyed seeing the strong bond Corey and Ethan built continue. However, I really felt this should have been book 4.5 rather than book 5, as it was a brief interlude into the world of Atherton, not a full-blown story. A nice Christmas novella.
