Blurb: Mitch Jackson took a temporary job wrapping gifts at a Manhattan department store so he’d have some extra cash during the holiday season. He didn’t expect to get a bonus in the form of Austin Payne. Austin starts out as just another customer, though a particularly good-looking one, until he asks Mitch to dinner. Their whirlwind romance, touched by the magic of New York in December, soon grows from what could have been only a fling into something more—something like falling in love.

Review: The blurb says it all—Mitch and Austin are a match made in heaven, and while they try to take it slow and hold off on the physical side of things for as long as they can, the emotional explosion they experience around each other is rapid and intense. Mitch meets Austin when he ends up wrapping a few gifts Austin has purchased. There is an instant connection between the two, and despite the fact that there is a slight age gap and a definite economic gap, the two guys hit it off instantly. But Mitch has been burned before, and he tries to put the brakes on their heightened emotional attraction by slowing things down, dating and trying to get to know one another before falling in to bed with each other. To a degree it works, but before long, the two men realize there is definitely something brewing between them they both want to explore—and that something really could be love.
If you are looking for an angst-free holiday romance, then look no further. Yes, the story might have been a bit long in the tooth when it comes to Mitch worrying he could never be in the same league as Austin, financially, but even that took a back seat to how much these two guys just enjoyed being together. It was so nice just to watch Mitch and Austin get to know each other and begin to fall for each other. While I wouldn’t say this ended with a definite happy ever after, it certainly was a happy-for-now with the real promise that these two fellows were both invested in exploring how deep their feelings could go.
All in all, Falling Together by Shae Connor is a cute holiday romance that will satisfy the sweet tooth in us all.
