Blurb: Part of the A Holiday to Remember 2017 Series

Quiet, strait-laced David Appleton thinks he’s going to have a problem at work. A new co-worker discovered his secret in the locker room. Unable to confront someone, David let him walk away. Now he worries everyone will know his deepest held secret. A secret hidden under his signature vest, tie, and trousers.

Since walking in on his co-worker, CJ O’Connell tries to get a moment to speak with the shy David, but nothing works. His last hope—the Secret Santa Gift Exchange party. Perhaps a special gift can peel away the secrets.

Dividers

Review: I first discovered Nicole Dennis with her Southern Charm Series, and when I saw she had a new Holiday book out, I scooped it up. The Holiday to Remember Series has eleven authors who have created holiday stories which vary widely from one story to the next. There is truly something for everyone in this holiday bundle.

David Appleton is a little uptight. Well, that’s an understatement. Known not only for his matching vests and ties, he is famous for being a workaholic and attentive to the last detail in the reports he writes and approves. Anxiety is his constant companion, even with the meds he takes and the yoga he performs. Daily battling with a homophobic coworker has worn him down, and having to recreate and correct said coworker’s reports is grating on his last nerve. It’s the night of the company holiday party, and instead of being at the party—honestly, somewhere he doesn’t want to be anyway—David is correcting Marc’s reports yet again. At least, until his boss shows up, an empathetic man who has known David for quite some time, and wants only the best for him, and right now, that’s to join the holiday party and quit working so hard.

CJ O’Connell started to work for the company almost a year prior, and this is his first holiday party. Chosen as the master of ceremonies by his boss, CJ really wants to impress a certain accountant who’s known to work too hard. Shortly after starting work at the firm, CJ walked into the locker room at the company gym to find David changing after his workout. Only thing, David had on some sexy lacy underwear, and it fried CJ’s brain too much for him to respond. He knows that David has lived in fear of him revealing his secret, but that’s the last thing the man wants to do. He’d rather get David alone and rip them off with his teeth to show his appreciation. He’s hoping that this holiday party will end with a new understanding between them. It’s why he rigged the secret Santa gift exchange so that he has David’s name.

Nicole Dennis has written a sexy, heartwarming short story with David and CJ. What starts as misunderstanding ends with total acceptance and the beginnings of love—a special secret Santa gift and the stage is set for romance. And that’s what this is, a sweet romance with a bit of lacy spice thrown in. I highly recommend this holiday short.
