Blurb: Scott Burke has always desired a big family, but as a divorced single dad, all he has is his young daughter, Lexi. He pours himself into raising her, half-convinced he’ll never find what he’s looking for. When Brennan Price strolls into Scott’s life, he’d better have enough patience for both Lexi and Scott if he intends to stick around.
Brennan has a huge family and a successful career, but no one to call his own. Wooing Scott and his daughter is right up his alley, though, and he steps up to the challenge to prove he’s enough for both of them. His attraction to Scott is immediate, but he recognizes a family man when he sees one and hatches a plan to win Lexi over. Her handsome father is sure to follow….

Review: You know what? This was cute. It was short and definitely full-on insta-love…but, this little story made me smile. Which is pretty much the job of the Christmas romance, yeah? No matter the length? Above all else, we want a story that will make us smile. Mission accomplished with Tami Veldura’s A Gift of Family.

I enjoyed both characters. Scott was a wonderful father—always putting his daughter’s needs above his own—who longed for a family that was more than just the two of them. Someone for them to share their lives with. Enter Brennan Price. I don’t want to give anything away, but it wasn’t an accident that Brennan came upon Scott and Lexi in the park. He was also a man who knew exactly what he wanted, and was willing to go after it. Brennan was super sexy and confident, as well as being funny and kind. He was also extremely comfortable with Lexi. I wish we would have gotten at least some explanation as to why he was clearly so good with kids, but watching him with Lexi was very sweet. And, she was incredibly cute.

As far as the insta-love goes, it didn’t personally turn me off in this story, but I will say that I’ll never understand why some authors feel it’s necessary to make their characters be in love after just two days. Why does it have to be “he was pretty sure he was already in love with this man?” Why not just leave it at them wanting to get to know each other better, and that they felt a strong connection? That being said, in this story, for me, it worked. I think A Gift of Family was exactly what it was supposed to be—a sugary little holiday romance to warm the readers’ hearts.
