Blurb: Sequel to Ghostly Investigations
My name is Tonio, and I’m a ghost. I want to, need to, find out who killed me so I can move on. The problem is, I have no idea how to do so. Or I didn’t, until Brody and Jon showed up. They’re ghosts, too, and they know Mike, a police detective, and Sage, a medium who can speak with the dead.
With their help, and mine, will it be possible for Mike to find out who pushed me off the lighting bridge at the theater where I worked? At the same time, can I come to grips with the fact that, in death, I’ve lost David, an actor at the theater and the one man I ever loved?
Review: Antonio Burton and his boyfriend, David, work in the theatre. David’s an actor. Tonio is a lighting technician who walks the bridge high above the stage—and now faces the hard truth that he’s dead. As his situation becomes clearer, he works on controlling his ghostly abilities. When he finds himself on the roof and opens his eyes to two men who can see and hear him, he’s surprised.
Tonio is in a predicament when Brody and Jon discover his death was a murder, but they know exactly what to do. They have a special connection with Sage Crewe, who’s a landscape architect and has some very special abilities when it comes to a victim’s ghost. Sage often assists his boyfriend, Detective Mike Harris, at murder scenes. Mike has already closed Tonio’s case, but when the “ghostie boys” bring up a new revelation to Sage, Mike has no choice but to reopen the case, and the investigation begins with plenty of help.
This sequel to Ghostly Investigations was a pleasant surprise for me. It’s nicely paced and fun to read, with plenty of mystery and a host of interesting suspects. The storyline is a little melancholy, as one would expect of death and not knowing what that final step is when the victim’s murderer is caught.
The relationship between Brody and Jon is unique. And Tonio really tries to be understanding of his and David’s new situation. I also like how Sage and Mike’s relationship has smoothed out; they’re a really sweet couple. It’s fun to have Sage be part of the investigations with Mike, Brody and Jon. It looks like Tonio will be joining the “ghostie boys” too.
Hopefully Edward Kendrick adds another installment to this series. I’m really interested to see what happens with Jon’s situation since his murderer has never been caught.
