Blurb: When Aaron finds Mavis, an emaciated and shy Boston terrier, at a pet adoption fair, his heart goes out to her—completely.
When Christian, manning the adoption fair for the Humane Society that autumn Saturday, finds Aaron, his heart goes out to him—completely.
This is a story about embracing love, whether it’s for someone who walks on four legs or on two. Mavis’s journey back to wholeness and finding her forever home parallels the story of two men discovering each other at the perfect moment—a moment that defies logic, propriety, and common sense. But when did love ever follow a rational course?

Review: After a bad break up, Aaron is starting a new life. He’s moved to Seattle and is living with his sister in her small, one-bedroom apartment. While out shopping together, Aaron and his sister happen upon a pet adoption display, where Aaron meets and falls for timid Mavis, a Boston Terrier that just may need as much TLC as Aaron Does.
The man running the adoption table immediately feels sparks with Aaron and encourages him to take Mavis home. This short, sweet novella gives us everything you need from a romance—two hot men, one small space, and a shared love of Mavis.
Tom Askin has a fine voice and he uses it well in this quick piece. While Mavis does not speak, she certainly takes up a lot of the words here, and Askin does a fine job with it. The male characters tend to blend together in spots, but not in the love making scenes.
This is a quick listen. Mavis as well as Aaron’s sister have their fair share of antic behavior to keep the piece lively and not entirely reliant on sex to keep you listening. It’s a fine effort on the narrator’s part, so if you enjoy a good Rick Reed romance, you’ll really enjoy this book too.
