Review: Killian Desmond was once famous. He had it all. One night an accident takes everything, even his reason to stay rooted to a life he no longer can control or reconcile, so Killy drifts from town to town merely existing. The world has moved on, given him up for dead, until one night he accepts a gig as a backup singer for a cover band. He makes a connection with the lead singer, and they rock the house like the old days. Things get complicated, though, when their on-stage connection becomes physical. In just a few short days, Killian is reconsidering never learning the real name of his hookups, but Texas changes that for him in unexpected ways.

Darcy Stark is an excellent narrator, and he takes Eden Winters’ story and pours raw emotion into it. In this very short piece, less than two hours, Stark gives voice to Killian’s return from the wilderness into living life again. You can really feel the jerk from past pain into wanting to be part of reality again. The narration here is as masterful as the words of this story. Pick up the audio if you can. You will not be disappointed.
