REVIEW: Since reading When Love Takes Over, I have been anxiously awaiting the release of the next book in the series. I think the entire neighborhood heard my SQUEE when I saw this book on the Dreamspinner list of offerings this week. In the first book we got to meet Zach and watch him get his happily ever after, and now we get to meet his father. I knew there was going to be some fences to mend, and I just couldn’t wait to witness it happen.
When we first get to meet Gil Kelly, he is at a coffee shop waiting to meet his online hookup. It turns out instead of Visiting Guy, he runs into Tommy, his son’s best friend from childhood. It seems Tommy is now Tom and WOW, has he grown up! Gil can’t believe how much Tom is ticking all the boxes on his “list” of what he wants in a man.
Gil realized years ago that Tom was exactly what he wanted in a man, but he has done his best to keep an appropriate distance between them, since he has known Tom since he was a child. It seems all his careful maneuvering has been useless, though, because as it turns out, Gil is exactly what Tom has always wanted in a man too.
With some plotting and maybe a little stalking, Tom and Gil both get what they want, but what is going to be the cost? When Gil was literally caught with his pants down, his family disintegrated from within, and he hasn’t been able to patch things up with his son and has only started chipping away at the wall between his daughter and himself. His wife and her socialite friends have made his life a living hell, and he is very worried about how that will effect him and Tom and how it could effect Tom’s business.
Tom and Gil decide to have a “coming out” party at a local charity fundraiser, but the surprise they share is truly trumped by the surprise Gil’s ex has in store for them. The outcome of a long overdue face-to-face with Zach could make or break his relationship with Tom. I don’t want to give away too much here so if you want to know the outcome then you will have to read the book. I can assure you that not only is this a very emotional read, but it is SUPER hot! It was nice seeing Zach and Van again and meeting Zach’s sister was an absolute treat.
There are only two things I can find wrong with this book. One being it was just way too short; I could read about this group for days!. The second is that now I will have to wait for the next book in the series to catch up with them again! Seriously, though, run don’t walk over to Dreamspinner and grab you a copy; you won’t regret it.
