Blurb: Never judge a sexy man by his cover.

Detective Beau Williams is hardworking, dedicated and professional. He enjoys the finer things in life, but with his heavy caseload that includes what Beau suspects is a new serial killer, he has no time to enjoy much of anything. What the tall redhead needs is someone to shake him up a little.

Investigative Technician Austin Kent never met a snarky joke he didn’t like—or a set of stairs that couldn’t trip him up. One night after a devastating episode at work, Austin sees something else he likes—the handsome detective he’s seen around the station whom he’s always wondered about. But after he makes a drunken fool of himself in front of Detective Williams, he’s sure there’s no hope.

Beau and Austin’s worlds collide when Austin is sent to pick up some evidence at the station. Amidst a myriad of twists and turns in the troubling serial killer-style murders of Vegas conventioneers, Austin and Beau discover that there’s more to the other than they’d originally thought. There might even be more they’d like to give—unless the killer has the final say.

Review: Austin Kent works as an Investigative Technician for the DA’s Office in Las Vegas, delivering subpoenas to potential witnesses. Then one day he has to deliver one that leads to the tragic death of a childhood friend, and his co-worker, Kyle, being injured. Austin tries to search out friends who will give him the distraction he needs, but everyone turns him down. He winds up alone at El Lagarto, sitting at the bar and drinking just a little too much.

Beau Williams is a detective with the Las Vegas PD. He has a string of unsolved murders to deal with. He’s got dinner plans for the evening with friends, Parker and Lonnie. They also wind up at El Lagarto. As Beau makes his way to the bar, he accidentally bumps Austin and while apologizing, Austin recognizes him as a detective he delivered blood evidence files to for the Deuces Wild Motel killings. Austin strikes up a conversation with Beau but as soon as Beau’s order arrives, he heads back to his table, but over the course of the evening, he keeps watch over Austin, as he’s figured Austin is drinking because something bad has happened. When an argument breaks out between Austin and another customer, Beau steps in along with Parker.

Escorting Austin home, Beau discovers Austin is a little accident prone, lonely, and hides behind jokes and sarcasm. Beau is finding he has an interest in Austin, but is that what he really wants? Beau thinks he needs someone more refined, smart and sophisticated, better than his ex-lover.

Justice Prevails is a suspenseful, and a little scary, murder mystery in the Sin City Uniform series. Austin and Beau are such a great fit together, and it was also nice to revisit Parker and Lonnie in this book. If you’re a fan of Morticia Knight and the men of Sin City, I’d recommend reading Justice Prevails.
