Who Comes Out The Winner In "Fighting For Hope"?

This was a story inside a story inside a story. Grayson Burrows and James Pearson are both doctors. They both went to medical school, they both treat patients and they both want to get the plot of land that is up for grabs for a new medical facility. They sound like they should have a lot in common don’t they? Well, they do and they don’t.

Grayson Burrows is a pediatric doctor whose dream has always been to open a children’s hospital. He lost his mother to cancer when he was a young boy and he felt that he was left alone throughout the entire process. His father was a very logical researcher and when his mother got sick he buried himself in his work trying to cure his dying wife. Due to this Grayson never wants another child to feel alone or deserted while they are sick so his answer is the children’s hospital. This is an issue that is dear to his heart and something he will fight for. Grayson has only had 3 relationships. One boy died, one man left him to find enlightenment and yet another man left him for a woman. Because of this Grayson doesn’t let anyone in, they will just leave anyway right? That is until he meets James.

James Pearson is an oncologist who has been hired on at Oxford Hospital to bring in a cancer research center. James was raised by two very academic parents that were definitely not warm, touchy lovey parents. He learned at a young age that medicine and research were what mattered. James has only opened his heart to one man. When he gave everything that was in his heart to one man he was accused of being “smothering”, so James locked up his heart and let logic and reasoning take over. For 10 years they have ruled his heart and his life, that is until he meets Grayson Burrows.

When Grayson and James met there was electricity in the air. Neither man can explain the attraction they feel. They are two men that have so much in common, but are complete opposites. Neither of these men knows the meaning of communication. When things are right between them it burns like a four alarm fire. However, the four alarm fire seems to burn out quickly between the two men because they can never seem to keep the fire going. I have never wanted to bash two people’s heads together more than I did these two. Through miscommunication and basically NO communication, James and Grayson make so many problems for themselves I am shocked they survived the story. There were so many problems brought about from outside sources during the competition for the new center. James’ logic was maddening to Grayson, he just could not see past the analytical mind to the heart inside the man. Grayson kept running away because he wanted to be the first to leave instead of being left behind.

Luckily, with some great advice from some very good friends, the two pull their heads out of it and find some common ground and survive for their HEA. Who wins the plot of land you ask? Will it be the new Oxford Children’s Hospital or will it be the Oxford Cancer Research Center? Well duh, you will have to read it to find out. I hope you enjoy the journey to the conclusion like I did. This is one book of Serena Yates’ that I can read over and over again. I hope you love it as much as I did.
