A Marrying Man is Gasq-Dion’s rapid follow up and continuation to her novel A Betting Man. Blaine and Spencer, who are the best friends of the main characters from A Betting Man, are recruited to arrange and organize both the engagement and wedding of Kent and Terry the sexy love duo from A Betting Man. It’s through this flurry of activity that love, attraction, questioning of sexual orientation and a good dose of Spencer’s lovable, comic foil of a daughter that a relationship blooms and this great stand-alone story takes place.
I had read A Betting Man first and loved the characters, the setting, and the pace of the novel, and I dove head first into A Marrying Man with much anticipation. Though in grand soap opera fashion, this follow up novel picks up where the last novel left off and gives the reader a different perspective with a different story line, this book does a great job of giving the reader a good dose of love being for love’s sake. I am a big fan of love happening no matter the gender. Love does and should conquer all, and in a book where the characters finally succumb to their hearts, one can ask for no better.
My only criticism for the book would be that there was a little too much Shakespearean “he loves me, he loves me not”, but all in all the reader is left with a grand romantic adventure with some steamy sex scenes that do a great job of giving the reader a continuation of a wonderful romance with a great cast of characters.
