“Power attracts the corruptible. Suspect any who seek it.” ― Frank Herbert
BLURB: Donovan C. Plummer has a problem, he’s too obsessed with his job as a journalist for the D.C. Herald to keep a man in his life. Eight months into his present relationship with Chet Michaels and Donovan’s job is already putting a strain on their relationship, so Donovan decides to take Chet away from everything and go on a seven day cruise. The only problem is that Donovan has a big story about to hit involving a conservative senator caught in a homosexual liaison, a story that brings death threats to Donovan via e-mail. It isn’t until the death threats follow Donovan and Chet on vacation that the perfect romantic getaway becomes the Vacation from Hell.

I have to say, I truly enjoyed getting to know Donovan Plummer. DC Plummer is completely dedicated to his career as a journalist, but lately that isn’t enough for him. He has started taking stock of his life and he realizes he wants more than to be a great reporter, he wants a man. Not a man for the night, but a forever man. He thinks Chet Michaels may be that man so they go on vacation together to see how they would mesh with the 24/7 cohabitation. Everything seems to be going well until repercussions from DC’s job reach them all the way to Bermuda.
While trying to solve the mystery of who is trying to kill him DC and Chet have to decide if they can work through the issues DC’s job has brought into their relationship. We get to meet some wonderful secondary characters in this novel. There is the strong female friend that is also his boss, he best male friend that seems willing to do just about anything for him. Then there is the Detective that sets his heart to pounding. I think these characters made the story just that much better and I can’t wait to see them again in the next books.
I think Drake Braxton has a solid grasp on the mystery side, and I can’t wait to see where DC ends up in the romance department. Will it be Chet, his best friend, or maybe the hot Detective? I know I will be looking forward to the next books to find out, and I highly recommend that you give it a try; you just might get wrapped up in it too.
