Scotty Fuller has control over everything in his life. He has control over the books in the library where he works, and he has control over the subs he has scenes with at the local BDSM club. Wesley is a college senior who is as shy as Scotty is controlling. He is smitten with Scotty when he sees him at the library, and he finally works up the nerve to ask him out. Little does he know what he is getting into with this man. Their first date is scary, but a little exciting for Wesley. He has never been exposed to BDSM before, and it both scares and excites him.
There is strong chemistry between the two men, and they explore their D/s relationship together. Scotty is shocked to find out that he actually trusts Wesley enough to give up some of his hard won control. They end up falling in love with each other and find a balance between what Scotty needs and what Wesley is willing to give. The two men and very happy right up until Wesley and his friend go through a traumatic experience.
After Wesley begins to recover, he believes he can no longer be what Scotty needs and Scotty believes that once he reveals all his secrets, Wesley will leave him high and dry. It turns out that the only thing these two men needed was some honesty and a little role reversal to begin their healing.
Slowly and carefully these two begin to work through all their secrets and fears. Wesley doesn’t know if he can give Scotty what he needs any longer, and Scotty isn’t sure he even knows what he needs. Watching them figure it out was a lesson in patience and caring. At the end of the day it seems that if they can be honest and they can trust each other as much as they love each other they just might have a chance.
This book was a wonderful trip into two wounded lives. I loved seeing them finally start to open up to one another and once they realized that it just might work, there was no doubt they would do anything it took for them both to feel Cherished.
