“Sometimes the hardest part isn’t letting go but rather learning to start over.” ― Nicole Sobon
My first introduction to SJD Peterson was Lorcan’s Desire. After reading that awesome book I was hooked. I read the entire Whispering Pines Ranch series and that is where I got to meet Ty. After Whispering Pines was concluded I was so excited to find out there was going to be a “spin off”. It seemed that Ty and his Dom were buying a BDSM club in New York and Guards of Folsom was born. The first full length book in the series was Pup and I absolutely loved it. One of the best parts of Pup, other than the MCs, was getting to meet some of the supporting characters. Two of these characters were Bobby and Rig. Ty and Blake bought the club from Bobby and Rig since they were ready to retire.
Seven years ago, Bobby and Rig lost their sub in a freak accident, and they are ready to move on from running the club so they can find a boy again to complete them. They only thing is Bobby can’t seem to let go of the club, so Rig takes over and basically makes him take a vacation in Florida. Bobby feels like he is in hell due to the heat, but that all changes when he sees a beautiful boy while out walking one day.
Mason Howard is reeling from the loss of his Doms. It has only been a couple weeks since they died and after losing a battle with one of his lovers’ families he is ready to throw in the towel, literally. When he sees Bobby for the first time he is scared and runs from the man. Bobby is worried about the boy and he convinces Rig that they need to check on him. For days they try to make contact and fail, but one night they succeed and it turns out to be one of the most important things they have ever done.
Bobby, Rig and Mason start a relationship, but more of a friendship than a romance. Mason is getting the counseling he has needed for years and he starts to come out of his shell around Bobby and Rig. The three men end up basically living together. Sharing meals, short outings and cuddling on the couch is the start of a wonderful friendship. Bobby and Rig want to build on this and see if Mason could be their boy, but the two Doms have a little healing to do and Mason has to finish mourning his Doms before they can all move on.
It was an absolute treat to experience Mason’s growth and watch the relationship between the three men grow. Watching Rig and Bobby become super protective while also turning into cuddly teddy bears was very entertaining. With help and advice from some great friends they begin to heal, but will Mason be able to move on from his past and will Bobby and Rig make it if he can’t? Well, you are going to have to read it to find out.
I believe SJD Peterson has hit another homerun with Tag Team and I highly recommend the entire series. You will definitely want to get to know these guys, and I promise you will be rooting right along with me for a HEA.
