“Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love.” ― Hamilton Wright Mabie
BLURB: Discovering his boyfriend’s affair with a co-worker wrecks Eli’s holiday plans. With his parents on a cruise and his brother and sister out of town, he’s on his own. His mother insists he escape to her friend’s mountain cabin. Eli reluctantly agrees, but he takes off unprepared and ends up driving into the worst snowstorm the area has seen in years.
He survives the trip, but he’s stuck with no logs for the woodstove and little food. Fortunately, he gets the number for Mac’s Wood Delivery. Mac doesn’t mind riding to the rescue, and his deep, sultry voice has Eli eagerly anticipating the delivery. Is Mac the little bit of Christmas cheer Eli has been needing?
REVIEW: Breaking up is difficult most days, but around the holidays it can be devastating. Eli finds his boyfriend in a “compromising position” right before Christmas, and now his holiday is ruined. His parents are going on a cruise and his siblings have other plans, so what is a boy to do? Eli calls his mother, and she insists he head out to a friend’s cabin in the woods and have a writing retreat all by himself.
Eli is in a hurry to get out of the snow storm on his way to the cabin, so he forgets to get groceries, and unlucky for him there is no firewood. When given the number for Mac’s Wood Delivery, Eli is surprised to find the man on the other end of the phone has a super sexy voice. When Mac shows up with groceries and wood for Eli, he finds out that Mac’s voice isn’t the only sexy thing. Mac is basically Eli’s dream guy. Add in some great conversation and a little flirting, and he sees how this could turn out to be a great Christmas.
Christmas day starts out horribly with a power outage, but ends with a shared dinner, some dancing and maybe a bit of rolling around on a bear rug in front of the fire. Eli is smitten, but what is a city boy like Eli going to do with a country boy like Mac? Is there a middle ground for two men who are so different but mesh so well? Check out the book and find out what these two will be willing to do for a little Christmas.
Even though this is a short story, I feel like I really got to know the characters. Silvia Violet has a way of making you fall for her guys, and the only thing you are left wanting is more. If you are looking for a great holiday read this one won’t leave you out in the cold.
