TNA: Dear Readers, we have a couple of very special guests with us here at The Novel Approach today. Mary Calmes has arranged for Quade Danas and Roman Howell to sit down and answer a few questions.
In case you haven’t heard, Quade and Roman are the stars of Mary’s newest release, Old Loyalty, New Love, so sit back, relax, and enjoy getting to know them a little better.

TNA: Guys, welcome to The Novel Approach. So, be honest, which one of you had to talk the other into doing this interview?
Roman: I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity for people to learn more about jackal shifters and––”
Quade: I’m here under duress. If I didn’t show up, I get no sex for a week.
Roman: (clearly horrified) I can’t believe you just said that.
Quade: Have you noticed that that scowl is looking permanent lately?
TNA: Quade, tell us what it was like when you found out Mary wanted you to tell yours and Roman’s story. Were you nervous about revealing so many personal details about your life together?
Quade: As I told her, I’m not special. I’m just trying to do the best I can and take care of everyone. Roman on the other, hand… I get her wanting to talk about him, he’s amazing.
Roman: (catching breath) I…that’s so…Quade.
Quade: (coughs) Give him a second; he’s kind of a sap.
TNA: What’s the one private thing she asked you to reveal that you’re most leery about people reading?
Quade: I would prefer her not sharing how much I loathe Christmas decorations but other than that I’m fine. I have nothing to hide.
Roman: I wish there was more sex in the book so people would know how I get held down and tied up and––ow!
TNA: Oh!
Quade: Oh no, Lisa, he’s fine. He likes to have his face shoved down on the table, don’t worry about it.
TNA: M’kay. Roman, do you mind talking a little bit about your accident? Do you remember much about what happened?
Roman: I don’t mind but really I don’t remember the accident itself per say, only the aftermath. Even the fire is a blur; mostly it’s sounds that register. But in the hospital, one night I was so cold and scared, and then Quade was there holding my hand and I felt so much better. I don’t think he realized how much him being there meant. He would whisper my name and kiss my forehead and just his voice helped so much. He…oh…come back. Yes, well, I knew he wouldn’t sit through that, it’s hard for him. He’ll be back in a second.
TNA: Does it bother you when people ask about your scars and how you got them?
Roman: It doesn’t bother me. I like it when people ask me instead of pointing or making jokes. I really don’t mind.
TNA: What’s the one thing you’d credit for getting you through your recovery?
Roman: Quade and my parents. They all stood beside me. I’m glad they were with me then, and I still miss them now.
TNA: If you could travel back in time and prevent the accident from ever happening, would you do it? Why or why not?
Roman: I’d love to be able to be all Zen and say that I wouldn’t be who I am now without the accident, but I’m not sure if that’s true. I know that events unfolded the way they did, and I am now the happiest I’ve ever been in my entire life. But to not be in that accident, to look like I used to, that’s a lot to consider. I really don’t think I can answer.
Quade: I can.
Roman: (TNA: Roman laughs warmly at Quade’s response) Oh, you’re back.
Quade: Of course you would prevent the accident, don’t be an idiot!
Roman: Don’t mind him; he has very strong feelings about the accident.
TNA: Quade, what was the first thing that went through your mind when you found out about the accident?
Quade: I thought he was dead, and I thought I failed him. I was supposed to protect him from everything, and I didn’t. I’m not sure what I would have done if he hadn’t made it.
Roman: Don’t get up again, stay here. Relax. Give me your hand.
TNA: Quade, I’m going to ask you the same question I asked Roman: If you could go back in time and keep the accident from happening, would you do it? Why or why not?
Quade: I would change it in a heartbeat. He went through so much pain and the loss of many of his team mates and years of surgeries. I would erase that if I could.
Roman: Hold my hand tighter, you’ll feel better.
Quade: I’m fine.
Roman: Stop growling, I’m right here.
TNA: Everything has changed so much for both of you since you first met. What’s life like for you guys these days?
Quade: It’s the same except I travel a lot more. I still watch over him.
Roman: He keeps a close eye on me now, wink-wink, nudge-nudge.
Quade: Really?
Roman: What?
TNA: Guys, tell us the one thing you each love most about the other.
Roman: Oh, me first. I love his hands and the way he grabs hold of––”
Quade: I love his heart and how much he loves and cares for me and everyone else. Roman is a caretaker in his soul.
Roman: Oh, I see. Well honestly, I love how strong he is inside and out. Quade is like shelter for everyone he meets. He’s a rock.
Quade: That was really––”
Roman: And mine. What I love most about him is that he’s mine.
Quade: Okay. Next question.
TNA: Okay, guys, this is the last one: you’re snuggling up on the couch together to watch a movie—who picks the movie and what do you watch?
Roman: I like science fiction movies and fantasy. So like Time Bandits or Serenity or The Fountain. I really liked Inception and Donnie Darko and of course Star Wars. I’m drawn to stuff like that.
Quade: I hate that stuff. I don’t want to think when I see a movie. I just want to be entertained. I like action movies.
Roman: Great movies should entertain and inspire thought and conversation.
Quade: No.
Roman: No?
Quade: I just want to sit a veg.
Roman: Since he likes action and I like sci-fi, we usually end up watching Blade Runner, which, I might add, is a movie that inspires thought.
Quade: Not for me.
Roman: I’ve watched Blade Runner a lot.
Quade: I also like westerns.
Roman: Don’t get him started.
TNA: Thanks so much for taking the time to be here with us today, guys. I hope you enjoyed visiting as much as we’ve enjoyed having you!
Roman: Thank you so much for having us, it was lovely.
Quade: I’ll get the car.
Roman: He enjoyed it too. He barely growled. It was good.
TNA: The sign of a successful interview: when your guest doesn’t growl so much. Bonus. :-)
THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED
