“I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach!” – Ebenezer Scrooge
Haven Marley has to be one of the unluckiest men in the ENTIRE world. He hates his retail job during Christmas shopping season, when he finally gets off work his car won’t start, and while walking home he gets mugged! I mean, what could be worse? The only highlight in his craptastic holiday season is meeting Sander Klaus.
Sander works at the mall part-time playing Santa, and he also holds down a construction job fulltime. If Haven is the Blah, Humbug, Sander is truly the jolly old St Nick. He not only plays Santa but he serves at the homeless shelters, he collects winter coats and clothing to donate, and he volunteers at many other places. Haven is also shocked to find out that Sander also bakes Christmas cookies from scratch. He believes this guy is a true saint until the phone calls start. No matter what they are doing, if his phone rings he rushes out.
Eventually, Haven is fed up with the secrets and what he sees as lies and he snaps. The two men will have to each come clean with their deep down secrets if this holiday fling is going to turn into anyting more.
This is a cute story of a scrooge learning the true meaning of Christmas from a true Klaus. I highly recommend this story if you ever feel like Christmas isn’t quite so special anymore. This could perk you right up.
