Norris Mason and Danny Falk have themselves what you might call a fixer-upper relationship, meaning that a one-man verbal demolition crew said a few things in the heat of hurt and anger, things he didn’t mean to come out the way they did, and boom! there you have it—the implosion of a romance that, with the gift of Christmas and some good friends with questionable judgment, leave Norris mangled up in tangled up knots—though the relationship may not be condemned as much as it’s in need of some TLC and a little renovation.
Wrapped Up In You is the lovers-to-exes-to… well, it’s a heartwarming holiday story, so you can probably guess what happens with Norris and Danny, yes? But don’t think that just because this is a Christmas romance it means miracles ensued with the magic of a kiss. No, Lucy Whedon makes these men work for their defining moment under the mistletoe, and she does it in the best possible way—making the reader work for it too, not to mention making me want to see it happen because anything less would have been a travesty to the love that was still so obviously there between them. If any two people deserved the gift of a do-over, Norris and Danny are two of them, and it is indeed the perfect gift—one that didn’t come from a store—this gift most definitely meant a little bit more.
Wrapped Up In You is one Advent story I was more than happy to find in my Dreamspinner stocking this year. Lucy Whedon delivered.
