Review: I’ve read a lot of the author’s books and love the adventures she takes me on. Her characters are mysterious, most of the time broken, but always fascinating and fun.
This book picks up four months after To Catch a Ghost, the first book in this series. I strongly recommend reading them in order. There are two sayings , “Absence makes the heart grow fonder”, and “You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone”. To me, they are very appropriate themes for this story.
I have to admit, at first I was a little concerned with the lack of action in the beginning. I felt as though it was a little slow and was wondering where this story was going. After reading the story in it’s entirety, I realized I liked how this book was a little slower on the action. We get to watch the characters fall more in love with each other. I feel as though the author took the time for the reader to get to know a little more about these two men. They in turn get to know and understand each other a little better as well.
Now, don’t get me wrong, there is action. There is a murder mystery, which really had me stumped until the end. The author does a great job keeping the reader guessing on who did it. There are a lot of twists and turns I didn’t see coming. When I thought I knew who and what it was, it turned out to be something else altogether. It sure kept me on my toes.
We are privy to Tom’s backstory at this point and understand a little more about his Cajun “mojo”, as Prophet likes to call it. I really enjoyed the conversations in this story. I felt the characters got to know each other a little more. Not that they are sharing everything just yet, but it’s a good start.
Prophet and Tom, while rough around the edges and have more baggage than an airplane, are so perfect for each other. They love with all of their heart and love deeply. The moments of intimacy between the two are animalistic, needy and just all around very, very hot. It’ll leave you breathless.
Overall, I really liked this story, and am looking forward to their next adventure.
