Review: After reading the first book in this series, I had a soft spot for Zane Davis. I know he may not have been the most popular character due to his being less than faithful in Compromised, but I think he redeemed himself, and his honesty made him a character I could respect.
This second book, like the first, is definitely a romance but there is also a wonderfully written mystery to keep us on our toes. Once again, Ethan Stone has woven many small occurrences that seem to be isolated incidents, into a bigger picture.
Zane has decided he wants Brett for the long haul and he will do whatever it takes to get them there. He does something he has never done before: he waits. He puts his physical needs to the side and puts more emphasis on what Brett needs, and he finds that he likes himself more, and respects himself more than he ever has.
While Brett and Zane are working through all of the happenings at the prison to figure out who is after Zane, they are also working on their relationship and they end up falling in love. The true test of their relationship comes when Zane is accused of sexual misconduct with an inmate. Zane will have to choose between staying in the closet to protect his career and risk losing Brett’s respect, or coming out and risk losing the support and safety that being in the closet provides him at work.
This was a great story, and I am loving this series. I was a little distressed to find out I am going to have to wait until March for the third book, but wait I will. The ending of this book left a clear opening for more books and I think Ethan Stone has struck gold with Uniformity.
