Blurb: Jez is on a mission of mercy: to replace a tragically deceased comic book for his injured best mate, Tel. Venturing into the Hidden Asteroid bookstore in London—the temple of geekdom itself—Jez is bowled over by the guy behind the counter.
Rhys is the poster boy for hot geeks: tall, gorgeous, and totally cool. Jez is desperate to impress him, so he bluffs his way through comic book jargon . . . and then dashes back to the hospital to beg Tel to teach him how to speak Geek.
Tel’s happy to oblige, and Jez is over the moon when Rhys asks him out. He’s even more thrilled when they discover a shared love of rugby, something he won’t have to fake for Rhys. The question is, how long can Jez keep up the deception, and what will happen when Rhys realizes he’s going out with a Fake Geek Guy?

Review: Think back…to that one time when you found yourself sticking your chest out just a bit when that enormously cute football player walked past your scrawny, pining self, and you hoped against all hope that just maybe he would notice you, just this once? And just what length would you go to if he did? Perhaps you would just tell a small white lie…that you worked out (not) or that you were on a local football team yourself (not)….just how far would you go to snag that drop dead gorgeous man? That is exactly the question facing our main character in JL Merrow’s latest story, It’s All Geek To Me.
All Jez had to do to land the gorgeous man behind the comic book counter was become “geek-smart” overnight. It certainly helped that his poor flatmate was laid up in the hospital and was a geek guru himself! Now all Jez needed to do was keep Rhys from discovering that he knew so very little about the comic books he was purchasing his friend. Little does Jez know, but Rhys has a secret as well. As these two men danced around their little white lies, they grew more and more interested in each other and realize that true confessions are going to have to take place for their relationship to ever get off the ground. But will their little fibs prove to be the deal breaker?
I am not sure there is anything better than watching a character frantically trying to get their man! JL Merrow’s humor was just spot on in this fast-paced sweet tale of two men who both think that being who they are in real life just isn’t interesting enough. The inner dialogue of her main character, Jez, just leaves you gasping for air with one more hilarious moment after another. His frantic attempt at becoming “geek” enough for Rhys, and the discussions he has with his hospital bound, oversexed roommate, Tel, were just delightfully humorous.
The remarkable thing about this author is her ability to give us a complete package no matter what her word count turns out to be. I didn’t find myself thinking there was anything lacking from this story even though it was just over 50 pages long. Author JL Merrow was able to create such completely authentic characters in the span of just a few pages. Men who, while borderline silly in their behavior, nonetheless managed to make me care for them and hope that by story’s end they were happily together in the bliss of beginning love. All in all, this was just so cleverly accomplished.
It’s All Geek To Me is a well written, funny bit of romance that will serve to remind you of just how talented this author is at writing interesting characters who get into the craziest of situations. It is a quick read that will leave a smile on your face!
