Blurb: Love didn’t just kick you when [you] were down; it staked you out and turned you into a vampire. Not that Vision was bitter. His ex-lover taught him nothing lasts forever, while his ex-master taught him to submit and the fine art of not resisting silk restraints. In exchange, Vision let both of them keep their heads. He considered it a fair trade-off.
Now Vision is a master, but still finds himself wanting to be on his knees.
Enter Hanz. He’s just a driver, but he knows what Vision wants and how to make it sting the way Vision likes most. Vision won’t be fooled again. Sure, Hanz is sweet. The respect feels genuine, and, what’s worse, he honestly seems to love Vision. Older, wiser masters counsel Vision against Hanz. And, of course, they’re right. Hanz does have something to hide.
And, as if on cue, along comes Vision’s ex-lover, the cause of and solution to being kicked, staked, and vamped. Vision is caught again, and this time not with ropes and silk. Now if he can only keep his neck and his heart intact.

Review: I am a total sucker for a good vampire story. Throw in a little D/s, create a magical force that powers said vampires, add in some political backstabbing with a little retribution, and I might just be happier than a pig in… well, whatever pigs are happy in.
In this book, Angela Fiddler tells the story of Vision. We see his past and his present. The story is told in a non-linear way through 1st person point-of-view and flashbacks, and I absolutely loved it. The author has a very straightforward style of writing that grabs your attention and doesn’t let go.
This story tells us of Vision’s past with his maker and former lover, and the events that led him where he is in the present. Almost two hundred years have passed since Vision “Vic” was turning tricks with his lover Seraph “Steven”. One night the two men went home with Gabriel, and that was the beginning of the end for their love affair.
The relationship between the three men turned into a competition for affection, and that led to Vision looking for greener pastures and finding himself becoming the Master that Gabriel always aspired to be. Now Seraph and Gabriel are back in his life, their objectives aren’t clear at first, but when Vision’s potential lover and lieutenant, Hanz, starts acting strangely, Vision has a feeling those two have something to do with it.
Gabriel wants Vision’s powers, and Seraph has Vision’s lover. It takes all of Vision’s power as Master, some very strategic maneuvering, and a whole lot of luck for Vision to get the better of these two vampires, but his relationship with Hanz hangs in the balance.
When the dust settles, Vision and Hanz should be strolling off into the sunset together…right? Well, I am sure they would be, but Seraph isn’t quite done with Vision, and a young upstart is trying to move into Vision’s territory. I believe the next book in the series is going to be carrying on this portion of the story, and I can’t wait to see what happens.
One of my favorite parts of being a reviewer is finding new-to-me authors. I have to say, this book is one of those times where I am glad I took a chance. I am now a diehard Angela Fiddler fan, and it seems I have a few books to run out and get. I highly recommend you come along with me.
