Review: Sometimes the hardest part of writing a review is coming up with the first sentence. Especially when the only words you can think of are mostly monosyllabic noises that express how hot this short little story is. Umph.
K.A. Merikan are authors who never fail to surprise me. Just as soon as you think you’ve read it all before, you realize you’ve probably not read it exactly the way they write it. Most people get wine, maybe a little tchotchke to warm a new home, but not Kyle. No, Dan gets his lover Kyle their new next door neighbor as a house warmer, and well, while it may not be a traditional gift, it’s a gift that keeps on giving. At least for a little while.
Eric has been lusting after Kyle since they moved in, so when Dan offers Kyle’s arse up on a silver platter, Eric hops onboard Dan’s plan to do a little role playing that turns into a sexfest of theatrical proportions. The authors turned it up to eleven when it came time to think of all the things three men could get up to together in this little game of breaking-and-entering, and not only that, but they showed a relationship based on a deep level of trust and an intimate knowledge that only two people who’re intensely committed to knowing each other fully can have.
There are some warnings that come with this sexy little story: some humiliation play that might not strike your fancy, but within the context of Dan and Kyle’s relationship, it’s a part of who they are, and the authors did a great job of communicating that.

Blurb: — It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a young man in want of a wife, might fall prey to the heinous sin of self-pollution. —
Benjamin Snowley is trapped in a most distressing predicament. He’d been feeling poorly and after having recently recovered from influenza, with his eyesight worsening, he knows that the fault for his declining health lays in a vice he wouldn’t dare mention in polite conversation.
Onanism, self-pollution, masturbation. All names for the same sinful affliction.
Benjamin refuses to be dragged down into an early grave by unnatural urges. When he finds out about a doctor who came up with a new, experimental method of treating his illness, he jumps at the opportunity.
Benjamin Snowley is determined to get better even if the treatment is highly unorthodox and involves an inappropriate proposition for a young stableman.

Review: If there’s one thing I can say with some certainty about the writing duo of K.A. Merikan, it’s that their work is never, ever run-of-the-mill, and The Onanist’s Journey to Reclaiming His Seed is the perfect example of that.
There’ve been a lot of absurd ideas about sex over the centuries, not the least of which is that it’s shameful to enjoy it, but self-love? That one gets a bad rap even in a more enlightened age, when we know masturbation doesn’t cause blindness or hairy palms, but there are still some who believe there’s something inherently illicit about it. Written with tongue firmly placed in cheek, K.A. Merikan visit the Regency Era, when the natural hilarity of believing that spilling one’s own seed somehow drained a man’s life force wasn’t some religious preaching from the pulpit, it was supported by the medical science of the time, and Benjamin Snowley’s physician has some fun but fairly unorthodox ways of helping Benjamin recover a bit of his essence after what could only be considered a masturbatory marathon.
What ensues is an erotic journey of Benjamin’s lusty attempts with his stableman, Tom, to recover some of his failing eyesight and waning energy, in only the way K.A. Merikan would dare to tell a story about onanism. If you’re looking for something that doesn’t take itself too seriously and might have you wondering how we survived, let alone thrived, as a species, check this one out.
