Review: Wow, Kol Anderson has done it again. What a phenomenal ride this author has taken me on, and I’ve enjoyed every bump, twist and turn. This is the final episode of the Broken series. I suggest reading the first two installments for this one to make any sense.
It’s been a long hard journey for our Aaron and I must say, it wasn’t an easy read by any means. Being kidnapped, tortured and repeatedly raped by his captor Vincent, Aaron has finally escaped his nightmare with help from an unlikely source. Time for the healing to begin.
I went into this with high expectations, and Mr. Anderson certainly delivered. This author has a way of grabbing your attention with engaging words and never letting go. Although this isn’t quite as dark as the previous books in the series, it has dark elements. Aaron’s drug addiction, thanks to Vincent, night terrors, fear of going outside, fear of touch; he’s left with damaging scars, emotionally and physically. Seeing Aaron struggle through the aftermath was heartbreaking but so necessary.
To me, it made perfect sense for Sebastian and Eric to be the ones taking care of Aaron after he’s home from the hospital. These two characters have been woven into the story from the beginning, and I had a feeling the author wasn’t quite finished with them yet. It was interesting to see the dynamics between the three men. I thought it was very well written and very realistic. I have to admit, the entire time I’m reading this I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop, and oh my God, did it ever, with a deafening thud.
What happens next is something I never saw coming, something I could never comprehend in my wildest imagination. The ending had me going back looking for clues any clue. There weren’t any. This is why I love this author. With every little twist and turn, he’s got you thinking you have it all figured out, but nothing is ever what it seems be.
