Review: This book has been sitting on my reading shelf for ages. Shame…shame on me!

Let’s begin with the undercover assignment that has Brandt’s panties all in a twist. Despite arguing with his Chief that he never expected to do this type of undercover work as a State Trooper, the Chief fires back at him, that the Attorney General has ordered this investigation. Brandt has been selected because he’s the youngest and the most likely to be able to infiltrate this frat house. Brandt’s job is to do “anything” that is required to get the “goods” on this sex-cam operation, much to Brandt’s chagrin.

Donnelly, Brandt’s partner, thinks this is all hysterical, until they logon to the web site. He then, much to his own mortification, sees what Brandt is up against after watching some of its explicit footage. Still, Donnelly goes to bat for Brandt, helping him fit the part by taking Brandt to a gay part of town to be outfitted in seductive clothing guaranteed to be invited to join this frat house. Why does Donnelly know where to go for such things? As it turns out, Donnelly’s older brother, who was killed while serving his country, was gay.

What it all leads up to is this: once Brandt steps into the frat house and meets Nick, nothing will ever be the same again. Now, I don’t want to go any further except to say that for these two straight men, Brandt and Donnelly are about to embark on a journey full of discovery about themselves.

Thanks to the audio version, I’m 99.9% sure that I enjoyed listening to Frat House Troopers more than if I had just read it. Peter Brooke did a masterful job of narrating! His voice characterizations were performed to make each and every character stand out as individuals. I started off smiling, then giggling, to downright belly laughing at some of the more humorous parts. I also suffered from slacked jaw amazement at the more seductive parts of this tale. Especially in chapter 22 of the audio version. Damn, Mr. Brooke really got into this one, or I did, depending on the perspective. Cold showers may be required to dampen enthusiastic listening. I will definitely be keeping a look out for more of Peter Brooke’s audios.

As for the author, Xavier Mayne, I’m giving a high 5 Star recommendation for his audio version of Frat House Troopers, and I’m looking forward to reading and listening to his second book on this series Wrestling Demons.

I would also like to add that I fell completely in love with the secondary characters, Bryce & Nestor. Those two naughty little queens made quite an impression, and I’m hoping to read more about them in the second story.
