Blurb: The stories of Spinning the Top will spin you until you’re so dizzy you can’t tell top from bottom! In “Subspace” by Kiernan Kelly, Dominant Gray Shade has his hands full trying to rein in his out-of-control submissive, Craig. In “A Taste of Sin” by Kassandra Lea, the angel Samuel pays a visit to his secret lover in the heart of Las Vegas. In “Ollie’s Jock” by Nicole Forcine, Larry thanks his tutor Oliver in a very special way.

In “Dragonfall” by Winnie Jerome — what happens to a draconic warrior when there are no more battles to fight? In “Tempering Cross” by Jaya Christopher, Zed Warren finds out that age and experience have nothing to do with who belongs on top. In “To Command Or Be Commanded” by Mychael Black, Commander Jason Butler learns that, sometimes, even a man in charge must bow to another.

Review: Just from the title, Spinning the Top got my head spinning and my heart racing! The book is a compilation of short stories about tops and bottoms being switched around. The anthology has a good collection of genres, such as contemporary, fantasy and sci-fi tales that will please any reader. The recurring theme is your typical Alpha males, the strong and in control men in public life, who long to submit behind closed doors in the bedroom. They want their tight control to evaporate with the right man. And oh man, how they submit! Unbelievably hot but not nearly satisfying, because I wanted a lot more! There are bondage elements in these stories. They are not hardcore, but if anyone is turned off by this, this book might not be for you.

While all the stories were exceptional, one stood out in my mind because my mind started to fill in between the lines of what was not written! A Taste of Sin by Kassandra Lea was just that and more. The story is about the Archangel Samuel, who can’t stop himself from visiting a demon named Flynn, and giving himself over to him. The dynamic between Samuel and Flynn was perfect. Samuel is the powerful warrior who commands other angels. He’s always in control and obviously, works for God. Flynn is the demon who is also powerful and commanding, but works for Satan. We’re not told what kind of demon Flynn is. But Flynn is not all bad; there is some goodness in him, and love. Oh, how I wanted to know more about Flynn! For some reason Samuel trusts Flynn to give him what he needs, he gives up control and power to Flynn, and Flynn takes that power and protects it.

They both feel more than they are willing to admit to each other. It’s much more than a power exchange and sex between them. There is affection and a kind of love. While the story was not graphic and god, did I want it to be, the tease was almost unbearable. My mind went through all the fantasies. Miss Lea, please, please write more about Samuel and Flynn. They burned up that book!

All the stories in Spinning the Top were top notch. The writing was exceptional and while these were short stories, they were able to set up the main characters in such a way that I was rooting for the happy ending. Spinning the Top was a hot little read that left me wanting more, more, more!
