Author Rain Carrington joins us today to celebrate the upcoming release of Wedding Bells and Bullets, the third installment in the Honky Tonk Series. To introduce the newest addition to the family, Rain wants to give you the chance to win an e-copy of books one and two: Honky Tonk and Coastal Cowboys.
THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED
Honky Tonk: Meet Ethan…he’s a self proclaimed slut hitchhiking across country from New York on his way to San Francisco. He stops in a small town in New Mexico and gets a job at a tavern called Honky Tonk without really wanting it. The owner of the tavern is a hulking man named Hunter Westmore and Ethan does everything he can to get the man’s attention and once he does his dirtiest dreams come true.
Hunter is a cowboy and owns a ranch as well as the tavern. When he meets the city kid who came into the tavern he didn’t know what hit him. He’d never felt the way Ethan made him feel and he tried to ignore the younger man but no one could ignore Ethan. Once he finally gives in they start a discovery of what makes them both tick, and what they both love is when Hunter takes a strong hand to Ethan and gives him his collar. Can their darkly seductive love last or will their kinks tear them apart?
Excerpt: Hunter’s hands went to the sides of Ethan’s face and his thumbs caressed over his cheeks. “I thought before we get moved into it that we could have a wedding here.”
Blinking once, then twice he asked, “A wedding? Who’s wedding?”
Hunter reached into the pocket of his tux and pulled out a small box. Ethan’s eyes got big and his legs gave out so he sat down to the side of them looking at the box in Hunter’s hand. Hunter opened it and Ethan saw the ring, a thick white gold band with diamonds over the front and in emeralds a small WM. He looked back to Hunter with a gasp.
Ethan looked into the unsure but hopeful eyes of his lover and felt dizzy then realized he wasn’t breathing. “Hunter…I…” As his mind blanked he couldn’t form any more words than those. He swallowed a couple times as he stared at the ring.
“Ethan you are scaring the shit out of me.”
Ethan shook his head and reached up to grabbed Hunter’s coat to pull him down. Once Hunter’s face was close to his he kissed him while not closing his eyes. He didn’t want to miss a second of this moment. “Are you asking me?”
Hunter bit his lip and looked younger and more vulnerable than Ethan could have ever imagined he could look. “Yes, I’m asking.”
Ethan felt happiness bubble up from deep within him enough for the whole world and if he let it out no one would ever be sad again. “Then I’m saying yes.”
“Yeah?” Hunter asked his eyes brightening considerably.
“Yeah.”
Ethan’s head was grabbed and brought in for a passionate, loving kiss melting him to the spot. Hunter’s lips on his, his tongue claiming but claiming sweetly showed Ethan how loved he was and how happy Hunter was that he’d accepted.
As Hunter pulled away his face was washed over with bliss. He picked up the box where it had fallen and plucked the ring out to set on Ethan’s ring finger. It fit perfectly and as he stared at it Hunter took off his jacket and undid his own tie. Ethan couldn’t stop smiling. He thought his face would freeze that way and he didn’t mind at all.
“I can’t believe this. All of this. Hunter, I never thought I could be so happy.”
Hunter lifted his chin and finally Ethan looked into his fiancé’s eyes. “You deserve to be this happy. I just hope I can always make you this happy. If there is ever something that you need from me all you have to do is ask.”
Ethan grew serious even though inside he was jumping for joy. In his head he was chanting ‘I’m getting married and my fiancé is so hot, I’m getting married and my fiancé is so hot’. His voice was calm, though, and his fingers started unbuttoning Hunter’s shirt. “Make love to me?”
Hunter let out a silent laugh. “You never have to ask that baby.”
Coastal Cowboys: In this sequel to Honky Tonk Ethan and Hunter are in New York to see Ethan’s parents who had thrown him out at 15 because of his promiscuous behavior. They like Hunter and are overjoyed when Hunter asks them for Ethan’s hand in marriage but old habits die hard and Ethan comes away from his home feeling low like when he had first been told to leave. Things get worse at his old hang outs and soon all of the things Ethan had done to make himself feel like a good man are forgotten as he lets old feelings come back making him question himself and the love Hunter feels for him.
Reggie is living in New York going to school but something is missing from his life and one night when he goes with Hunter and Ethan to a BDSM club he finds out who that something is. Drew is tied and abused and he takes Reggie’s heart with one look. Drew’s Master just happens to be Ferguson Kenroy, Ethan’s old lover, and Fergi wants Ethan back. When Ethan and Reggie snatch Drew away from him Fergi takes Ethan to compensate.
Cane is living in LA and longs for a Dom who can give him the love and strong hand he craves but instead meets Seth, a hit man in a mafia family who gives him so much more. When Hunter and Ethan go to LA to hide from Fergi they all learn that no one is what they seem and love runs deeper than pain.
Excerpt: As Hunter held him close he could feel the boy’s heartbeat and his muscles moving under his soft skin. The boy was aroused but cautious. Afraid but curious. He wanted this but worried that he wasn’t ready. Ethan was like a wild horse, set free at too young an age and never guided. If he did this right Hunter could tame him but not completely. He never wanted the younger man completely tamed or broken. Like Bit of Mayhem he loved the wildness of living creatures, treasured it and admired it, but also like Mayhem the natural instincts of the man needed to be curbed so he could live under the domination of a man and let his natural submissiveness lead him.
“What do you know about dominance and submission?”
Ethan thought it over. He didn’t want to sound like a naïve idiot but he also didn’t want to spout off things he’d heard and be wrong either. Finally after more than a minute of consideration he said, “I’m not sure of what I know but I’m willing to learn from you so that I know how you want it done.”
If there could have been a better answer Hunter couldn’t have come up with it. There were many different ways of being a dominant to another man or woman and he had his own ways of doing things.
“Good answer. What would you like it to be?”
“Shouldn’t you be telling me?”
Hunter made him turn to face him. “I will call all the shots of course but I want to know what you want so I can make my decisions with all the facts too. If I make you go back to school I need to know how much of that you want.”
Ethan looked down at the sandy soil between his knees. If he was honest would it really be okay?
“I want to feel wanted and needed. I want to feel as if I mean something to someone beside what I can do with my body. On the other side of that I want my body used to the fullest. I want to give one man a free all access pass to my body to make him feel good.”
Hunter felt shooting warmth through his body and straight to his cock. “Don’t you want to feel good too?”
“Making you feel good I’m sure I will get a lot from that too. I want you to make me into a man that you could…”
Hunter’s fingers brushed the blonde bangs from his face. “Could what Ethan.”
“Could maybe love?”
Hunter was quiet while his heart raced afraid that his voice would crack. The boy’s confession of wanting to be loved riveted him more than he thought he could be. The rules could wait; the talk could wait, if it was even needed. He had to have the boy right then or he would crack and fall into pieces and be nothing like the man Ethan needed him to be.
He stood so suddenly Ethan fell back and almost landed in the fire before Hunter caught him and pulled him to his feet.
“Go get one of the blankets out of the tent.”
On weak legs Ethan went to the tent and once inside his expression hidden from Hunter he smiled so wide that if he wasn’t in the tent people could have seen his teeth in Texas. He thought he shouldn’t be so excited, Hunter could just be teasing him like he was so skilled at doing but he didn’t think so. He grabbed up the blanket, forcefully took the smile from his face and left the tent to see the sight that nearly knocked him backwards. Hunter’s shirt was gone and the big man stood there, the sun at his back like he was glowing with it and why not he was like a god in his pure masculine beauty.
He was muscled, shit Ethan already knew that but his muscles were perfect from his shoulders all the way to his perfectly sculpted abs. The power of the man was obvious with a glance but the longer Ethan stared the more of the man’s utter strength just resounded from him.
“Are you going to stare all day or put the blanket down?”
The voice should have taken him out of his daze but it only added to it. The deep voice was a perfect match to the force standing before him. He reined himself in as much as he could. “Y-yeah.”
“Over there under that tree as far as you can.”
Another smile that Hunter got to see this time showed he appreciated the effort of the big man to understand his phobia. Ethan went to the tree and flipped out the blanket then knelt down to smooth it out and before he knew it Hunter was standing next to his kneeling frame and Ethan looked up to watch Hunter lower himself to the blanket.
“Aren’t you going to tie me up or…something?”
Hunter smiled warmly. “There will be plenty of that kind of thing. Our first time should be just us.” Hunter brought him close, enclosing him almost completely in his arms and their lips came together tenderly once then twice. “This time there are no restrictions. I want to hear and feel your pleasure.”
Author Bio: Rain Carrington started writing when she was just a teenager in Trinidad, Colorado but didn’t start writing M/M romance until much later. Through the years many of her gay male friends told stories of heartache and the struggle to find “the one” so she told them stories, fantasies all about them and their future cowboy, fireman, biker or policeman. When she found a writing site that encouraged her to write them down she started what was an adventure like she never had before.
Her first story, Cabin fever, about a young man searching for love and finding it wrapped in a member of a mafia family gained her readers who cheered for more. She knew then that she had found her place in the world. To make stories of love and kink that not only her readers but she could get lost in as well.
Rain now lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado but has traveled most of the US. Her last road trip to San Francisco gave her characters still coming out…no pun intended…in her newer stories. Rain has severe scoliosis which makes it hard for her to do all the things she used to love but it did give her the time to write that she never had before. She fights for lgbt rights from her home as best she can now and keeps in close contact with her friends that fight on two good legs to point them where they should go. She is a fervent believer that one door never closes without another opening so there are no limits she can’t get past.
Of all the people in the world no one has encouraged and supported her like her friends, many of them writers themselves, and her family. There is never a dull moment in her home where laughter is in the air 24/7 and everyone knows to avoid the computer screen when she sits in front of it. They never know what kind of beautiful man love they may see. Rain calls it research, they call it, “there she goes again!”
