Review: This is the final book with Jory and Sam in the “A Matter of Time” series. I love this book because it skips ahead several years in Jory and Sam’s life and shows them “living the dream”. They have a house, two kids, and a neurotic cat. We get to see the characters that we have fallen in love with throughout the series grow up, and also get to see how they grew together. I loved Jory’s continued relationship with Aaron and the beginning development with Duncan Stiel. Of course, Jory does not disappoint in his “trouble magnet” status, which makes me love him more. Sam’s past catches up with him, when it comes back to bite him in the butt. That is probably one of my favorite scenes in the book.
The narrator, Finn Sterling, is new for me, and I had trouble with his voices for Jory, Sam, and the kids. I have listened to Paul Morey in books 1-4 and have those characters engrained in my head, so the change in narrator and voices was hard for me. Jory’s voice took some getting used to, but I loved Sam’s voice. I have to say his voiceover for Sam was way sexier than in previous narrations. The women’s voices were difficult to listen to at times. It would almost be better if the narrator only changed the tone and did not try and mimic a woman’s voice. It is hard to start a series in one voice for so many books, then switch to another. Jory and Sam’s chemistry is one of my favorites in the M/M genre, and I felt like Sterling did a great job in conveying their never ending love for each other.
If you love Mary Calmes, you will love this story and it is a great addition to the series. I would definitely listen to Finn Sterling again.
