I have always been fascinated by human emotions. I love those moments in books and movies where the characters come face-to-face with their innermost desires and emotions, and their struggle as they fight to overcome them to no avail. Usually their feeling are for the ‘wrong’ kind of person which makes the struggle all the more interesting; how they are not only going against their own better judgment, but possibly against society’s norms.

But love can do strange things to people. And we cannot dictate when and with whom we are going to fall under its spell.

I was so captivated by this intensity of uncontrollable emotion and how it affects people that it became the foundation for my ‘First Time’ series. How is it that a person could live their whole life one particular way and then suddenly one day, have this entirely different persona awakened in them by someone else?

The main characters in my series are not gay. They have just found that one person who has sparked feelings in them they never knew existed. Feelings strong enough that they’re prepared to go there for this one person – at least for now.

Whether it be with a stranger he has only just met, as is the case for Brad Parker in the story First Time Brad & Sebastian released in May, or with a best friend he has known almost forever – the dilemma facing Josh Adamson in my new story out on the 9th of June: First Time Josh & Dan.

The series aims to capture the angst these men endure when they are faced with a life changing decision and how they deal with the aftermath of their choice, with a bit of hot sex thrown into the mix!

BLURB: Josh and Dan have been best friends since grade school. Now Dan is getting married and Josh is to be his best man. He doesn’t know how to deal with this or his guilt when he has to face Dan’s fiancée and tell her what happened. Especially when he starts to develop his own feelings for Dan.

EXCERPT: The words hung in the air long after they’d been spoken, as if they had a life of their own. Josh’s gaze was held by Dan’s and he was unable to look away. He felt, rather than saw the night going on around him as he stared into the bottomless pools of darkness that drew him like a moth to a flame. The flame was burning hard, coming closer towards him. His heart began to thump in his chest. His breathing suddenly became all harsh and ragged, as if he couldn’t find enough air to fill his lungs.

His hand on Dan’s shoulder started to slip, fingertips trailing a downward path ever so slowly along the ridge of his ribs. He felt the thundering of Dan’s heart and the catch of his breath.

“Aren’t you going to say anything?” Dan whispered, lips only inches from his.

Josh gulped. “No.”

“Good.”

Dan’s mouth touched his in a soft, tentative kiss. It was as if he was testing the water before diving straight in, unsure of whether it would be hot or cold, or if he would be allowed to linger. Josh knew he was waiting for his reaction, or rejection. In that split second, poised on the brink, his heart made up his mind for him.

Grasping the back of Dan’s head, he pulled him hard onto his lips. His mouth opened. Fleetingly Dan hesitated as if astounded by the action, before his tongue accepted the invitation. Their chests closed the distance between them, one hard body pressing against the other as they kissed like lost lovers beneath the silver moonlight.

Holding him close, Josh felt Dan’s shudder. Whether from cold or from emotion, he couldn’t tell, but he wrapped his arms around him and drew him harder against his own body. His hands began to trace the firm contours of Dan’s back, grazing over the goose-pimpled skin, gently caressing the hard angles of his shoulder blades.

Of all the possibilities he’d prepared for, he hadn’t planned for this scenario.
