Review: Oh man, it feels like it has been forever since I last visited with Travis and Charlie. It hasn’t been that long, really, but man I missed them. It seems they have been good since we last saw them, but if anyone could mess things up it would be Charlie, wouldn’t it?
Now don’t get me wrong, Charlie loves Travis, like LOVES Travis. The biggest problem is that no matter how much he loves Travis, he is still his father’s son. It has been difficult for Charlie to let go of some of the things his father told him, and to be able to accept that he can live out and proud with Travis. These issues lead to a rift between the two men and visa problems could be the cause of a full split. Between their issues, their business contacts, and the government, it is going to take a major miracle to work these issues out.
Eventually Charlie gets his head on straight and the men work it out, but they couldn’t do it without the help and support of their friends and family. N.R. Walker has once again managed to make me laugh, cry, and even swoon with her superior talent with words. This author has written some of my favorite books to date, and this one would be included. I enjoyed visiting Sutton Station again, along with all the usual suspects and a couple new characters that just made me go “Awwwww.” This book really was Charlie’s book. He had a lot of growing up to do and priorities to put in order, to keep the love of his life from leaving.
I loved this installment, and I simply cannot wait for the next one to come out. I recently heard it will be out soon. If you haven’t been to the Outback lately, then I highly recommend visiting Sutton Station and all the characters there. It is definitely a worthwhile journey.
