Blurb: Ex-con David Joyner returns home knowing he must atone for his past sins. Working at an animal shelter, David keeps his head down, desperate to prove to a hostile town he’s a new man. The one time David looks up, he spots fellow motel dweller Ben, and is terrified by his attraction to the man. David doesn’t want to feel anything. He can only damage what he loves.
On a forced vacation, PI Ben Evans accepts a job to tail a recently released prisoner. What begins as an easy gig turns complicated when Ben, a controlled man, can’t deny the pang of empathy he feels for his subject, David. Ben can’t suppress his gut-deep sexual desires whenever he’s near David either.
Repeatedly crossing paths, David and Ben do their best to fight their growing attraction. When passion explodes, and secrets are revealed, both men have to conquer inner demons in order to accept the others love.
Someone has turned the tables on David, though, stalking him and leaving threatening notes. Will anyone believe David if he tells? And when David’s stalker raises the stakes, can Ben find the man who has become his world in time to save their love?
Review: Let’s start this review with a little history lesson on the Foster Siblings Series:
A Fostered Love (Foster Siblings: Book One) was released March 24th, 2009 – This story centered around Jonah Roberts and Christian Sanchez. Jonah was sixteen and Christian was fourteen when they first met. Their story then takes a leap ahead by fifteen years. Let’s see that makes Jonah 31 years old and Christian 29 years old. Christian and Jonah have a lot of sexual chemistry and after a lot of twists throughout the book, end up together.
Something New (Foster Siblings: Book Two) was released July 19th, 2010 – This story centered around Abby Gaines, Rodrigo Santiago and Braden Crenshaw. All three were first introduced in A Fostered Love.
The third book, Brokedown Hearts, was released August 12, 2014 – This story centers on David Joyner and Ben Evans. David was arrested and jailed for stalking Christian in A Fostered Love, and Ben Evans was Braden Crenshaw ex-boyfriend from Something New. Do you need to know all of this to enjoy this book? NO! Cameron Dane does a great job of filling in the holes where it’s needed.
This reviewer has read every one of her books. Cameron writes dark, emotion filled stories, and this book is no exception. Within 20% of the book, the town is yelling profanities at David, his ex-wife doesn’t ever want to see him again, his brother calls him a psycho and a faggot, a private investigator (Ben Evans) has been hired to make sure he stays always from Christian, and to top it off, his doctor… well, I don’t want to give away the twist of the story, but let’s just say David has a lot going against him and not too many positives.
David, in A Fostered Love, is a psychopathic stalker, and if you don’t give him a chance to redeem himself, you won’t like the ending, but I wanted to give David a chance to get stronger and learn to live a healthy life. This story makes you take sides. Do you think people can change, or do we always stay the same? Cameron Dane’s books are at times uncomfortable to read, lots of sex, sometimes violence, and when you least expect it, cute kittens and dogs.
It all comes together to make Brokedown Hearts, and the Foster Siblings Series, a highly recommended read.

I was all set to buy until you said I won’t like the end? I’m an HEA person, and it really bothers me if the MC goes through so much and then doesn’t get his man!
Putting it on my wish list to think on it :)
