You would think that when I was writing this story I would have been watching as many cowboy movies I could get my hands on, or at least I would have watched Brokeback Mountain. But alas, I did not.
But now that I think of it, I really should have, because Cowboy movies are the best.
I grew up watching westerns ‘cause my dad was a big fan of Louis L’Amour (and in Reining Him In, Perry is as well).
Tom Selleck and Sam Elliot were among some of my favorite actors when I was growing up… still are actually. I never was a fan of Clint Eastwood.
John Wayne is my hero.
McLintock is my all time favorite cowboy/western movie of all time.
So, I want to know, what’s your favorite cowboy/western movie – or, if cowboys aren’t your cup of tea – what’s your favorite movie genre? Do you find that you like the same types of movies as you do books?

Blurb: Perry Jameson begins his new job as a ranch manager at the Wright Stables with the goal of returning the place to its original glory. He throws all of his effort into building a home and establishing a career. Being seduced by the ranch owner’s grandson could throw a serious wrench in the works.
Cory Matthews is a world champion in horse reining. Well known for his arrogance and talent, he can train any horse to win, and he knows he’s turned the sexy older hunk’s head, but he can’t seem to get Perry come around.
The two men butt heads on more than one occasion, the way two stubborn, proud studs will do. Maybe looking past their differences to work together will give them a new perspective on each other. Maybe, just maybe, it’ll help Cory rein Perry in.

I do enjoy reading cowboy books but I haven’t watched many cowboy films. I did catch bits of Clint Eastwood Cowboy films when I was younger but I was too young to actually watch them. Now a days there are many Cowboy films on TV here in the UK.

I like the blurb and cover, I’d love to have the chance to read this. Thanks for the giveaway!
Going to get this one. Thank you
Favorite western is a difficult one: True Grit and The Searchers are at the top of my list. Favorite movie genre is film noir. Just can’t get enough. Taste in books is different. Mainly lit fiction, bio, memoir.
This sounds like so much fun! I’m not a big cowboy expert, but I did love the montage from Jon Stewart’s opening Oscar-night monologue years ago. It was during the height of the BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN controversy, and Stewart proclaimed “there is nothing homoerotic about the classic American western!” Cut to an endless array of clips cut so that it looked like all the classic movies consisted of nothing but cowboys hitting on each other (and they had a running gag where they made it look like Gregory Peck was with *all* of ’em, which just made me love him even more)…
My fave western movies: the “Dollars Trilogy”: A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, directed by Sergio Leone and scored by Ennio Morricone. Count me in for the giveaway. thank you
Please count me in. Thanks
My favorite Western movie ever was True Grit. While mysteries have always been my favorite books and movies, I find myself gravitating to Westerns in the m/m genre. Go figure. All the best with your new release. :)
My Dad loved westerns too, and I’ve read a lot of westerns in my long reading career. Favorite movies – McCabe and Mrs. Miller, The Searchers, McClintock, Missouri Breaks, Lonesome Dove, and the Clint Eastwood spaghetti western trilogy.
I watched zillions of Westerns as a child, but can’t remember names of anything. I know I loved John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Jimmy Stewart etc…and they all did a lot of westerns. Lots of great actresses in the westerns too. :-)
I don’t watch a lot of Western movies or read that many either. This sounds really good. Thank you for the giveaway!
love cowboys! please count me in
Great post & giveaway!
I love western movies. I haven’t read too many books like the movies I like, bit hot cowboys in romances I do read. Thanks for the chance to win a copy!
When I was 11 my grandpa passed away, and soon after, my brother and I received his entire Louis L’Amour collection. L’Amour is what really got me into reading, so I love westerns and cowboys so much! As for movies, I would have to say John Wayne’s Hondo since I own it and tend to watch it occasionally though I like a lot of Clint Eastwood movies too. Thanks for the chance at the giveaway!
What a nice cover!
Love the Clint Eastwood “spaghetti westerns”. John Wayne’s movies were pretty awesome too. Thanks for the giveaway.
One of my favorite John Wayne movies is The Cowboys. I also loved Lonesome Dove. Thanks for the giveaway!
I like cowboys’ books&movies. Dakota Skies by Taylin Clavelli is on my top five.
Please, count me in.
I’m not a fan of wester movies but I like books about cowboys, especially M/M..The Farm series by Andrew Grey is great.
I haven’t watched a cowboy movie in a while. My mom is a huge John Wayne fan, so growing up I saw a lot of westerns. I actually have 2 favorites. Rio Lobo starring John Wayne and Charro! starring Elvis Presley. I have read a lot of cowboy books though over the years. Mary Calmes Timing books, Range series by Andrew Grey, and Bailey Bradfords Mossy Glenn Ranch. Nothing like a sexy cowboy
Thank you so very much for the chance and review.
Sergio Leone’s movies are the best to me.
I’m not a fan of western movies but I like to read books about cowboys, especially if they’re LGBT books. I like Dakota Skies by Tayilin Clavelli, Love means…no boundaries by Andrew Grey and many more.
Hmm good question, I watched westerns with my Dad when I was younger and we enjoyed many movies with Audie Murphy, Jimmy Sterwart, Glenn Ford, John Wayne, James Garner and many more, but now I think I read more about cowboys than I do watching films about them.
Thank you for a chance to win a copy of Reining Him In’ :)
